A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Here Goes Nothing !
Arggghhh! I took his suggestion.. I threw it up and *ugly* happened.
Arggghhh! I know.. it stinks but it was *his* idea.
Arggghhh! I can't believe *anyone* will stay around today.
Arggghhh! I bet nobody's first date was *this* ugly.
Arggghhh! It's all St.Louie's fault if you *hate* today's thread!
Arggghhh! He *made* me do it.. I didn't wanna do it....
I Blame it ALL on ST.LOUIE!

? ? ?
Sometimes it gets hard to think of ideas for new threads, so we ask for suggestions from our Finest Family... like what - or maybe even who - you would like to see featured in the future. Sometimes we hit the jackpot.
Last week I asked our dear FRiend, ST.LOUIE1, aka "wolfie", if there was anything in particular he would like to see presented at the Finest (Actually, I asked him if he would like to WRITE something for us, and I would even do the backgrounds, etc. and post it for him.) He very politely turned me down on writing it, but still offered this:
"BACKGROUNDS?!" he said, "You don't need elaborate backgrounds or fancy graphics - just throw out a question, like: 'What was your worst date?' and let everyone take it from there. It'll be fun, and you won't have to work so hard either."
"But Fancy Graphics and Elaborate Backgrounds R Us," I pouted. "It's what we've made as our trademark at the Finest. It's what others have come to 'expect' of us. They would be so disappointed. How could I just throw out a question..... with no background, no graphics, no pretty heading? No central theme, no color scheme, no coordinated pledge graphic, no welcome ping....."
"And besides, what kind of a question is that for the Finest? Most everyone here's been married so long, no one even *remembers* dating!"
Undeterred, wolfie (who, himself is a handsome and dashing and debonair bachelor and has probably never even had a *worst* date in his life) insisted this thread would indeed be a winner, so I begged and pleaded with him until finally he agreed I could at least have a background.
"So throw a background around it and HUSH up!"
So here goes.....my reputation as a Finest Hostess aka Layout Artist aka Graphics Guru is at stake, but he made me do it. So if you hate today's thread, today's topic, BLAME IT ON ST. LOUIE!
On the other hand, if you just love today's thread, well,WE done good, didn't we? :) (That last part was just for you, T Man!)
Oh, yeah - the question!
Finest FReepers, "What was your worst date?"

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

I saw Tammy several days later and knowing it was not her fault, I told her what had happened. I did not ask her out. Well, it was good to get it straightened out. :)

Don't worry Billie, I think you did fine. If you just get rid of the background colors, the graphics, and the text it would be perfect. :-)

I try to be gentleman even though I am hard headed.Sounds like she 'lost'.
On another note, HuntsvilleTxVeteran and armyboy, I see by your screennames that you are a veteran and serving now, armyboy? Thank you both for serving!
Have you seen our weekly Military Monday threads? We have several groups of photos of FR vets and/or active, and we'd love to include you. FR mail me if interested. :)

Hi sweetie. Been a long time. I don't see much of you around the forum. I haven't been around as much lately either. Between a big move and a new job, I have not been able to FReep as much as I'd like.
Nice to see you, Louie. I'm looking forward to hearing about YOUR worst date.

" I know he's single, but he's too young for me" I know. Between Louie and some of the other terrific eligible FReeper men, kinda makes you wish FR had been around a long time ago, doesn't it? I just love being around smart men. I think I hung out in the wrong places when I was younger. Of course, there are some older FReeper men around, as well.

WORST DATE
Although there have been several disasters....this is the most momentous.
I was in thirteen/fourteen at the time. It was my first date with a really cute redhead. A bunch of us went swimming at a friend's house and were having a grand old time.
Then someone suggested we play 'catch 'em-kiss 'em '. Meaning if you caught the girl you were chasing you could kiss her.
Well, I started swimming after my little redhead but she was a darned good swimmer ( like a fish) and she kept getting away. Sooooo....I swam as fast as I could, got close, and lunged at her.
I caught her but in so doing I inadvertently got my hand caught in the back of the top of her two piece swim suit.
Instinct, just instinct, made me pull her backwards. Her whole top came off in my hand! Man was I bug eyed!
Everyone started laughing except Terri. (my redhead) She ripped the top out of my hand, covered herself up as best she could and accused me of doing it on purpose. : (
I apologized all over the place. I was still apologizing as we climbed out of the pool. When she reached the top step she turned around and popped me right in the nose. It hurt like hell! I fell back into the water and sucked in ton of it. I went under and my whole young life flashed before my eyes. Well, actually, I saw a jillion stars. LOL
Anyway, if being slugged by a girl wasn't bad enough, the next day was worse. I had to go to school with a black eye and a bulbous snoot. Every class I went into the snickers, and sometimes outright guffaws, could be heard. Geez, talk about being embarrassed. : (
PS I dated Terri a few times after that episode. Things went *swimmingly*. : )
