Election: It's the Cat People vs. the Dog Lovers Written by Burt Prelutsky Sunday, August 15, 2004

All the pundits who are forecasting the November election, busily analyzing blue states, red states, and those all-important purple swing states, are spinning their wheels. At the risk of sounding even more presumptuous than usual, I contend that they are wasting their time and yours. If you want to know who's going to emerge victorious, all you really need to do is find out how many people have cats living with them and how many have dogs. The cat people, I have decided, will go overwhelmingly for Kerry; the dog lovers will do the same for Bush. It isn't simply that women, who often prefer felines to canines, tend to vote Democratic. It really goes to the nature of the animals........

LOL!!! Little dogs can be very deceiving in their appearance!

She once bit my father when he went to swat my bottom for doing something dangerous when I was about 6.

That wonderful Doxy was nearly 17 when she said goodbye.

You got a good deal on that cat. We got a female cat because I found a mouse behind the fridge, and she's got an attitude. She has destroyed countless bedspreads, carpets, etc. by using them instead of the catbox. On top of that, she isn't interested in mousing. But my husband is loyal and refuses to get rid of her. We're stuck with this loser cat who refuses to work, expects Fancy Feast four times a day, and treats us with contempt. Yep, she's definitely a liberal. If it weren't for the fact that our other cat, a male, is just the opposite, I would generalize, but judging from the cats I've known, I'd say there are just as many Republican cats as Demo-cats.

You couldn't be more wrong GG ~ I've had both dogs and cats over the years and cats make the best pets ~ we have four and they're perfect. Both my wife and I vote for GWB.

Two of my neighors have dogs only and both neighbors are voting for that lying traitor; John F'n Kerry.

Better luck next time on your crystal ball gazing. :)

Actually, that's Beauregard in front and Livingston in back. The breeder had already named him Livingston before we got him, and we decided to keep the name. Beauregard (the gray one) was a rescue, very skinny and matted when we got him, and the first time I saw him come out of the carrier, with his gray color, huge matted mane of chest fur, and droopy whiskers, I thought he looked like a Confederate soldier. So Beauregard was the first name that popped into my head. :)

Both are purebred Maine Coons about a year old. And both are Viking Kittens!

What a load of BS. I prefer cats over dogs and absolutely loathe that lying scumbag Kerry.

However, dogs will not turn on their owners unless mistreated, cats have no such loyalty. Also a cop told me of a woman (she kept cats) who died in her home of natural causes. Well after so many days the cats got hungry and decided to make a meal of her corpse! Dogs will not do that! My dogs are fairly independent, but they are loyal to a fault. They chase after pesky critters, and give a great deal of devotion and love to me and my wife. I've also trained them to go after cats!

A retired sailor! And yes, I'm voting for Bush - brother!

Looks can be deceiving. Livingston looks like he's looking for someone to rip to shreds, and Beauregard looks like he couldn't care less. They're both adorable.

Our family has 0 dogs, 3 politically astute kitties, and 3 votes for Bush/Cheney.
But in all fairness to dog owners, I'm sure if we had a dog, that it would be a Pubbie dog.
