OCALA - The highest ranking enlisted man on Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry's U.S. Navy swift boat in Vietnam, Clearwater resident Del Sandusky, will visit three north central Florida sites next Wednesday.
Sandusky will visit with UAW retirees on 4301 Maricamp Rd., from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., be at the Disabled American Veterans Center (Chapter 85) at 9892 SE 58th Ave., from 3-5 p.m. before concluding his visit at the Unified Training Center at 809 North University Ave., in Gainesville from 7-9 p.m.
Sandusky was born in a farming community in Streator, Ill., in December of 1943. His father worked for the Santa Fe railroad and the moved to Florida in 1957 where Del attended Dunedin Middle School.
He joined the Navy in 1961 and began his first tour of Vietnam in 1964. He volunteered and was assigned to the "river boat squadron" in 1965 and spent 1966 in Da Nang on the river. He began his second tour in spring of 1968 and John Kerry came onto the swift boat in January of 1969. He was there throughout Kerry's service and beyond.
He is a retired computer technician.
"He will be here to answer any and all questions about the man who saved his life and whose life he saved," said Bob Van Heyde, a local Kerry supporter.
Where have I been? Rassmun I knew about, but Kerry saved Sandusky's life too?
I caught that also.
That's just a pre-programmed response from a Kerry suppoter. "Quotes for Kerry Dummies" will be out soon.
It would be great to hear what this crewman has to say in an unscripted environment where the handlers can't have as much control. First and foremost, let's hear about the trips to "Cambodia." Even knowing who accompanies this guy will be instructive. Any chance there is a FReeper in the area?
Oh! They're coming out of the woodwork.
Here's a bit from the Boston Globe (Letter to Editor)
GREEN WALL OF SILENCE.....We have all heard about the blue wall of silence, the belief within the law enforcement community that any officer who blows the whistle on another officer's misbehavior is a traitor and a cop hater. We hear stories about cops being pressured by other cops to commit perjury to cover up another policeman's misdeeds. It is a common theme in the news, on TV dramas, and in film.
As someone who served in the US Army from 1969 until 1996, I can attest to the green wall of silence that exists within the US military. Any service member who publicly exposes the misbehavior of another service member is immediately labeled a traitor to the country.....

Oh, absolutely, dude. Right after he beat the holy living poo outta Doctor Octopus. :)
I wish someone would show up and read the part from Kerry's Senate testimony about the war crimes (beheadings, etc.) that he accused our GIs of systematically committing, and ask Mr. Sandusky whether Sen. Kerry's sworn testimony was the truth or a lie.
FReepers are in rare form today. LOL!
The Kerry camp is trying to keep his campaign from vanishing from sight. They're both speaking at the VFW annual convention - Bush Monday, Kerry on Wed. Only I think Bush's speech is going to be more interesting and news worthy.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 President Bush is to announce on Monday that he supports a Pentagon redeployment plan and will withdraw up to 70,000 troops from Europe and Asia in the most significant rearrangement of the American military since the end of the cold war, an administration official said Saturday.
The redeployment plan itself was first reported by The New York Times in early June.
Mr. Bush will also announce in a speech on Monday to the annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cincinnati that the withdrawal will affect an additional 100,000 military support staff and family members, who will leave the regions as well.

Bump!
Is this just another lie??
Perhaps some local, or not so local, Freepers could send some documentation to members of those three organizations Sandusky will be visiting, arming them with both the imformation we, and others have, and some to the point questions?
??? New chapter in the Mitty tale?
Bump!
The Alston Timeline (Captain Ed's Alston Never Served Under Kerry Followup)
Florida Freepers should pin him down about the truth of Alston NOT serving under Kerry.
How dare you question the wartime exploits of John Effin' Kerry and Del "Who?" Sandusky: THE WONDER TWINS!
