The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

With the nation on high alert for al-Qaida terrorists, the Department of Homeland Security is putting its border officers through "etiquette" classes to soften their image and make them less threatening to arriving foreign immigrants, WorldNetDaily has learned.

Thanks. Any gust reports in your neck of the woods?

The guy on the weather channel just reported that "this is a nightmare scenario" something about the pressure dropping and the hurricane gaining even more strength as a result.

Thanks. So the best possible news here is that "it could be worse"?

We've been looking at this for a couple days.

BTW, the image is incredible. Can we use that to determint the track? It looks like it would shoot across Jacksonville and recharge off the Savannah coast before ripping the eastern seaboard to shreds.

I would be surprised if they don't name it a Cat 5 in the next advisory. The pressure is now doen to 943mb, which is a Cat 5 (in the books). The windspeed was 145 at 964mb, and it is 19mb stronger now... Sustained winds are likely near 155mph in the eyewall.

Keep safe guys. Godspeed to you.

I sincerely hope this ting doesnt blaze across Florida, hit the Gulf Stream, and reenergize.

If it does, it could make Cat 3 before Cape Hatteras and I will be rebuilding my home again this year

We have a TV station in the newsroom; it's called SNN6. It's available only via Comcast. Their radar shows the eye just about to hit Captiva Island, which is right at the mouth of Charlotte Harbor. It could go right up the gut, to Punta Gorda.

I was just outside. Wind is picking up; the rain is steady but manageable. Anyone who has been in a hurricane can't help but be impressed with this force of nature. The clouds are really low and you can see them moving in a circular motion; it's quite a sight to see. (When Andrew hit, it was nearly dawn, and the clouds were a beautiful orange.)

I meant to mention this earlier. On the way into work, I saw a kid mowing his lawn - at noon, just a few hours from hurricane landfall. I couldn't help but laugh. Some people lose all common sense during times like this.

UPDATE: There's a tornado moving north-northeast at 25 mph near Sebring. I'm not exactly sure where that is.

Seen reports that Charlie has stalled just off shore, pressure down to 943mb. Could be a CAT5 by now.

I got my M1A in 1998 and had it worked on by ROBAR. They applied their patented NP3 and Roguard finishes (NP3 internally) and did an action job. Then I had a buddy of mine, a SEAL sniper help me tune and zero. Finally I bought 1000rds of Federal GOLD Match 168gr JHP. Nothing but the very best for adorable little blue helmets.....I can now fire three rounds at 100yds and cover the group with a dime.

I especially like my Sheppherd Range Finding scope. I purchased it and it was calibrated at the factory for 168gr loads.

If this storm had hit just north of TPA (as thought yesterday), we would undoubtedly be looking at 100 billion in damages. That said, these areas to the south did not expect it as much. The whole area is fairly populated.

That image shows upper level steering currents. It will give you a good idea where the system will go. It should follow much the same track as Bonnie. There is a cold front and broader trough sitting on the East Coast. That creates an area of 'weakness' that storms like to follow. This storm could emerge back into the Atlantic, and likely will for a time. It's anyone's guess as to where it might go from there.

Talk about weather everywhere today, I'm stuck at my bosses house above a desert flood gully.......Not a hurricane but flash flooding here. How is San Diego?

Logging in from my bosses computer, I may be stuck here for awhile this evening. She's at her office and I'm here.

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
south central Riverside County in southeast California
northern San Diego County in southwest California

National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
a heavy thunderstorm 7 miles southwest of Santa Rosa Mountain... or
about 21 miles southwest of Palm Desert. A second thunderstorm was
located 6 miles north northeast of Warner Springs. Both storms were
nearly stationary but increasing in areal coverage

Mud slides and rock slides are expected with this storm. Mud slides
and rock slides can potentially trap and kill people caught in their
path.

Stay safe! If the storm keeps moving how it is, landfall is coming shortly. I think Sarasota might end up right in the eyewall after landfall.

Weather Channel just confirmed they expect Charlie to cross Florida, reform, and strengthen to Hurricane force again before striking the Carolinas.

This is not good folks.

I admire your taste in initial selection and upgrades. My Savage 12FP in .223 puts 10 rounds through the same ragged hole at 100 yards with standard Winchester .223 55 gr. It's so much better than the ragged, vertical string left by a Ruger Mini-14. I've been remiss in not taking the .308 out for a similar effort. No time to play lately.

... Part 7 ...

We are not out of the woods by any means ...

Eastern Manatee and northeast Sarasota County are under a tornado warning - that's all east of Interstate 75.

UPDATE: After Hurricane Charley’s targeted landfall switched from Tampa to Charlotte Harbor, Sarasota Memorial Hospital got a call from the Agency for Health Care Administration, warning it to prepare for a potential onslaught of patients from Charlotte County.

Casualties would be expected from the Category 4-intensity winds among residents of Charlotte and Lee counties who didn’t evacuate.

“In the last half an hour, we’ve gone from the bad side (of the hurricane) to the good side,” said Dr. Duncan Finlay, SMH’s chief executive.

But it’s still too soon to be relieved, he said, as Charley’s path swerved again.

China is also acquiring alot of oil.

That's interesting. My broker notified me that China is also acquiring a lot of gold. This should help to drive up the value of existing gold supplies and also the numismatic coins like I own.

Valid point about the August 15 timeline. Only time will tell and that time is short if this is correct.

AD, you are just the best! Thank you for your concern. We're all watching this storm in complete safety here in Miami Dade County and breathing huge sighs of relief and yet concerned for our neighbors. Those of us who remember Andrew know of the horror they are about to endure.

JellyJam! Lock and load buddy, if the local bad guys are anything like they are here, the looters will be out before the winds die. Does your wife have a gun and know how to use it? There won't be any cops or even national guard able to respond for a number of hours to any crime situations until they get a handle on the scope of the disaster.

Police searching waterfront for two Turkish men
Aug 13, 12:23

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The Coast Guard says it has found two life jackets in the search for two men who apprently jumped ship in New Haven harbor.

The harbor is the focus of a search by Homeland security and Coast Guard officials.

They're searching for two Turkish men who jumped off a ship docked in the harbor.

Officials say they're treating the case as two missing persons and a possible security issue.

The men were discovered missing this morning. Two life vests were also missing from aboard the ship and have been found on shore.

Homeland Security Director John Buturla says officials are involved in the case and the State Police helicopter has been searching from the air.
