Too many changes
Free Republic ^ | me

Posted on 08/04/2004 10:48:11 PM PDT by freedumb2003

So many changes. I am sure that they are great. But I can't navigate FR like I used to. I feel so helpless, like John Kerry in a real war zone. Things are indented, and it looks like something is reading my mind (or trying to).

Am I alone? This is not a complaint, just a global obesrvation.

FReepers ordinarily pride ourselves on being able to find the facts on any subject in less than fifteen posts... but suddenly you can't function if JR changes the color on a link?

Amen to that. I'm amazed that so many people here can't figure it out. Weird.

Wild guess: Stargate-SG1 fan? < snicker >

Question: What do you think of the new Stargate Atlantis? I like it myself.

You are correct. And I've not seen the new series yet - my cable service doesn't carry Sci-Fi Channel. But I have a friend TIVOing them for me - I'm away from home on a contract job.

Actually that is a quote from "Blade Runner."

Never had a chance to see SG. But it has MacGuyver in it so I should take some time out to have the old Tivo record it.

LOL, yeah, actually when I saw Dean-Anderson was going to be in it, that intially put me OFF to the show. But it's grown on me. They've really developed it well.

And yeah, I guess as far as the ACTUAL thread topic goes.....hehe......I like the changes. ;) I haven't seen the flashing "new posts to you" yet though, kinda weird there......

It doesnt blink for IE users because IE no longer recognizes the < blink > tag.

I think you have remembered it more accurately.

The best death scene ever.

Huh, I see it as the only legitimate use of the blink tag. Try it out for awhile, you can make it stop blinking by reading your mail/posts. :-)

"I think you have remembered it more accurately."

Well, I have to admit that I had a little help ...
I "dogpiled" it.

You could do some cool stuff with an "alert system".

In preferences we would have the option to have the notice do something like:

A) Javascript confirm box (ok will take you to either the My Comments section or mail index, cancel will leave you there not give you an alert but will leave the "New Messages" or "New Mail" in red at the top.
B) Blinking "New Messages" or "New Mail"
C) Plain red "New Messages" or "New Mail"

What do you think? I love the confirm box idea because its quick and dirty.

Too many Scott-Laci-Kobe-Chandra tabloid gossip

Where'd you find a Chandra thread today? I haven't seen one of those since about September 11, 2001.

On the main browse page, upper right, below, Home/Forum etc...pick Threads.
Just the threads will be shown then. The number of views will appear to the right of the time of the post. Individual comments won't be so simply pick Messages again to see individual replies.

If you have Messages up and a full post falls in those replies it'll come up that way too.

Thanks, philman. I followed your advice. WAAAH! My computer doesn't have the number of hits for each thread. Probably just the difference in computers or servers or whatever. But thanks again, anyway.
