Newspaper Claims Moore Altered Front Page
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | August 1, 2004 | AP

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Filmmaker Michael Moore's Bush-bashing documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" has apparently upset more than Republicans. The Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington said Friday it sent a letter to Moore and the film's distributor, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., asking for an apology for using what it said was a doctored front page in his movie.

The paper is seeking $1 in damages.

A scene early in the movie shows newspaper headlines related to the contested 2000 presidential election. It includes a shot of The Pantagraph's Dec. 19, 2001, front page, with the prominent headline, "Latest Florida recount shows Gore won election."

The newspaper says that headline never appeared on that day.

The paper said the headline appeared in a Dec. 5, 2001, edition but was not used on the front page. Instead, it was found in much smaller type above a letter to the editor, which the paper says reflects "only the opinions of the letter writer."

"If (Moore) wants to 'edit' The Pantagraph, he should apply for a copy-editing job," the paper said.

Neither Lions Gate nor Moore were immediately available for comment Sunday

Yeah, let's just script it because they're too dumb to know what's good for them.

It appears that Moore is incapable of telling the truth. A pathological liar, it would seem.

Blubberb*tt Mooreon has the Saudi's kicking him in the butt on one side and the newspaper editor on the other side. A prime example of what goes around comes around.

There's no "SEEM" about it. He is a raving lying lunatic.

A woman freind of mine thought that movie was very interesting and informative until I showed her where and how Moore was lying, including this incident.

It's interesting that when you confront people about all the lies Moore contrived in F911 it's like their suspicions have been confirmed. I can see it in their eyes, especiallly the intellectually honest ones.

How fortunate for you that you know such intellectual honest libs. There is no convincing those I come in contact, regardless of stark evidence.

A local retired newspaper guy (who still writes the occasional column for the paper), wrote a column on Moore's film not too long ago. He, the retired journo, stated that while the film may (his word) have a few errors in it, the film was still well worth seeing.

There are none so blind, eh?

Howard Dean questions the timing of this report, Joe Wilson calls it a "bushwhack", Sandy Berger says it was an honest oversight, and Richard Clarke says he warned Moore not to do it.

I know just a couple, but regardless, they still have this irrational hatred of Bush. What is disturbing is the further we go along the less Libs seem to care about what is true and what is not.

It is amazing to see this insane turning away...because the hatred of someone outweighs what is correct and right.

$1 dollar ???

Looks like the Atlanta Journal and Constipation can't even write the story right. The radio this morning said it is 1 Million dollars.

What I find particularly discouraging is the confusion people seem to increasingly experience between movies and reality. I hear constant references to movies as illustrations of some supposed truth, as if what was scripted into the movie either really happened or belongs on the level of the Bible. Moore's film seems to be the most egregious example of this, and the willingness of so many liberals to uncritically accept the Big Lie (with some exceptions -apparently there are a few who can distinguish fact from fiction, like Scott Simon) does not bode well for the future of democracy.

"Did I read that right? Suing for 1 US dollar??

A doctor, an engineer, and a lawyer were stranded on a desert island. As it happened, there was an emergency radio beacon on a buoy offshore, but the waters were infested with deadly, man-eating sharks.

"It can't be done!" cried the doctor. "The human body can't take the cold, the waves and the sharks! I'm not going!"

"It's impossible!" cried the engineer. "Under those conditions, you would fail and die! I'm not going!"

The lawyer shrugged, stripped off his coat and dropped his briefcase, swam out through the sharks, triggered the beacon, and swam back. Two hours later, they were all on a plane home, huddling in dry blankets and drinking hot coffee. The other two turned and stared at the smiling lawyer.

"How did you do it?" demanded the doctor. "Those sharks should have torn you to pieces! Why didn't they attack?"

"Professional courtesy," replied the lawyer.

Maybe the paper is suing for $1 in actual damages (because it had no actual monetary damages) plus an an additional claim for a declaratory judgment that Moore misused or falsely used the paper (which would be more important in this case), and maybe punitive damages as well.

What? Why don't they go after Moore's millions?
