This guy gets it. He seems scared that he gets it, but he gets it like few avowed liberals do.

Joe Wilson says "be very afraid." Thanks Joe, I am. Because idiots like you influence the policy of this nation without a thought to the very weight of the matters with which you meddle.

The man is eloquent. He deserves a wider audience if he has penetrating thoughts on a regular basis. ;^)

What is fascinating about this article is that he really brings you into his inner struggle about voting for a man he truly does not like but who just might be the best man for the job.At the end of the article, I came away not knowing who he would vote for in November.

Excellent read. Good find, sir!

Interesting cross-pollenization of liberal and conservative feelings there. Also of note was the ability to dissassociate simple, visceral dislike from logic.

Resist the temptation to skip parts. The whole article is very insightful. :)

It's not a question if Bush is right or wrong. The terrorists have laid their cards on the table from the beginning stating that their one goal was death the us their "great Satan". One of the major problems I have with Liberals is in their superior thought process thaey cannot understand what what the goals of the terrorists are and that under no circumstance will they negotiate with faith. All of us that are religious must pray each day for our families and country. The treat is real and the wolf is on the way.

...we will have Kerry who will not cry wolf, ...

John-john will say they would try Scoobie Snacks...

What a couple of a$$holes... this time for real and for certain.

Bush may be an a$$hole as well on a private level. I've never met him and neither am I likely to so I am underqualified to make that determination. Accept for a few rather unConservative, unConstitutional things he's done... he's been a damn sight better President than Klinton was. He'll be a damn sight better President than Kerry or Nader would be.

That does not mean there isn't a lot of room for improvement.

Excellent read.

A good read is John C. Waugh's "Reelecting Lincoln - The Battle For the 1864 Presidency". Many parallels between then and now.

This is exactly the sort of liberal person we need to see more of in 14 weeks. Yes, he's probably going to have different opinions than most conservatives but he gets the big picture that terrorism and national security is the issue of today. You can't argue about jobs, stem cell research and gay marriage if you are dead. The fact that we have not suffered another attack has given us the luxury of debating these topics. The left's distaste of George Bush has clouded their conception of reality to the point they just don't get it any more and are willing to satisfy the whims of their indignation at the expense of American lives.

People also forget that Winston Churchill was a man hated by millions of Brits when he became PM in May 1940.

He was seen as an upper-class swine who had stupidly sacrificed thousands of soldiers uselessly at Gallipoli, and had his cavalry ride down innocent Englishman in the streets during 1920s protests.

Oh, and he drank.

And when the War was over, they voted him out.

The G*d* 24/7 media cycle has destroyed any broad interest in a historical perspective, except the most banal superficialities.

Good find!

Although the author professes his visceral hatred for Bush, he is at least capable of considering things that most other liberals seem to have decided to skate over, and I think he deserves a thoughtful reading for that reason. He is taking the question seriously (and he also seems to know a heck of a lot more about US history than most liberals).

That said, I still can't understand why liberals HATE Bush so much. It's a truly insane, out of contol hate, and nobody has ever been able to give me an adequate explanation for it. I found Clinton repulsive and embarrassing, and I could hardly wait for him to go away, but I never hated him; but liberals genuinely hate George Bush.

"The reason he will be difficult to unseat in November—no matter what his approval ratings are in the summer—is that his opponents operate out of the moral certainty that he is the bad guy and needs to be replaced, while he operates out of the moral certainty that terrorists are the bad guys and need to be defeated."

I think he nailed it.

Boy liberals can ponder and pontificate like there's a sale on words somewhere!

Deep down, in that lengthy rumination, he has a kernel of an idea - that terrorism might actually be dangerous and we might have to keep killing people to stop it.

There’s a teeny-tiny lightbulb flickering and struggling to stay lit over that egg-head.

They started to hate Bush again after the 2002 elections when they lost seats in congress. I hate to say it, but it might simply be lust for power.

There is no "What if" Bush has been right all along.

Joe Wilson, Al Gore, and Howard Dean, who collectively do not have a single constituent, have lead the liberals to take the bait.

In the end, the liberals *with* a constituency will take the fall, but what do JoeDaLiar Al and Howard care ? They're not going to loose a single vote because they don't have any voter!

I guess what I'm saying is it;s wrong to trust politicians who have no accountability to the people, and the left wing of the democrat party has a lot of explaining to do come November.

He says, and one hears it from the East Coast Establishment constantly, both the DDims and the blue blod Republicans His arrogance led him to offend the very allies whose participation would have enabled us to win not just the war but the peace. What is not considered is why our "allies" are so opposed to the peace that we are trying to establish in Iraq. I refer especially the adamantine opposition of France in Atlanta. It does seem that both France and the UN establishment are doing their level best to make our policy seem a failure so that Bush will be replaced by Kerry. If so, then we will see a flurry of gestures of support for the new president until the hard realities of the differences between what is good for us and what is good for the Europeans clash. No amkuint of appeasement by Kerry is going to keep this from happening, and it will not be good for the United States.
