It does seem that both France and the UN establishment are doing their level best to make our policy seem a failure so that Bush will be replaced by Kerry. If so, then we will see a flurry of gestures of support for the new president until the hard realities of the differences between what is good for us and what is good for the Europeans clash. No amkuint of appeasement by Kerry is going to keep this from happening, and it will not be good for the United States.
