NOT SUFFICIENT. Kerry and Edwards need to step down as well. Berger did not do this on his own. He was trying to sabotage the 911 Report for political gain--gain of Kerry/Edwards. They are in this up to their eyeballs. Maybe we can get Berger to rat.

I wonder if Berger was informed of his resignation before it was broadcast on the news?

VICTORIA TOENSING, paraphrased from FoxNews a few minutes ago: There should be a Justice Department subpoena of all Kerry campaign documents regarding advice from Sandy Berger.

This just went into the Kerry camp..

"From what I can ascertain, when he started his thefts he was an advisor to Howard Dean."

Interesting. I wonder if at the time he was actually working for Dean or perhaps working within the Dean campaign on behalf of someone else.

""Mr. Berger does not want any issue surrounding the 9/11 commission to be used for partisan purposes...." "

Too late. "Pant-load" and Kerry can expect to see alot of this in the days ahead.

Slide Berger to the bottom of page eleven... the front page must be devoted to the recent capture of this dangerous master criminal...

Maybe he should be Frog Hopped or what ever Joe Wilson was saying about Rove.

On another note...didn't Kerry claim he was getting his intel briefings from some other party besides NSA or the CIA? I gather he will be needing the official ones now.

Wish it could have been next week but we couldn't have asked for a better time.

This needs to be thrown in the face of the Libs who question the timing. As great as this is, the 'Murrican Pipple", at least those who are not political junkies, have a short attention span. It would've been still better if this had happened next Monday, just as the Dem convention was starting.

AP: Berger Steps Down As Kerry Adviser

By RON FOURNIER, AP Political Writer

WASHINGTON - Former national security adviser Sandy Berger, the subject of a criminal investigation over the disappearance of terrorism documents, stepped aside on Tuesday as an informal adviser to Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites).

"Mr. Berger does not want any issue surrounding the 9/11 commission to be used for partisan purposes. With that in mind he has decided to step aside as an informal adviser to the Kerry campaign until this matter is resolved," said Lanny Breuer, Berger's attorney.

The investigation had threatened to become a political problem for Kerry a week before his nominating convention in Boston in which he hopes to persuade voters that he is ready to be commander in chief. The cornerstone of Kerry's argument against Bush is that he used faulty intelligence and poor judgment in waging war against Iraq (news - web sites).

Berger, former President Clinton (news - web sites)'s national security adviser, is under criminal investigation by the Justice Department (news - web sites) after highly classified terrorism documents disappeared while he was reviewing what should be turned over to the Sept. 11 commission.

Berger's home and office were searched earlier this year by FBI (news - web sites) agents armed with warrants after the former Clinton adviser voluntarily returned some sensitive documents to the National Archives and admitted he also removed handwritten notes he had made while reviewing the sensitive documents.

However, some drafts of a sensitive after-action report on the Clinton administration's handling of al-Qaida terror threats during the December 1999 millennium celebration are still missing, officials and lawyers told The Associated Press.

The mystery for me is why he didn't quietly distance himself from Kerry months ago.

I'm sure he was hoping to be Secty. of State.
