The real deal

The real deal

Linda Ronstadt's current tour – 'a history lesson of music' – reflects her dedication to authenticity, and quality By George Varga July 15, 2004 Other singers may have a greater passion for music than Linda Ronstadt. But few have a greater passion for more types of music, or the willingness to perform them, even at the risk of falling on her face.

"My career has befuddled other people, and it's befuddled me," admitted Ronstadt, 58, who finds her fans are polarized by her nightly on-stage salute to "Fahrenheit 9/11" filmmaker Michael Moore.

"I've been dedicating a song to him – I think he's a great patriot – and it splits the audience down the middle, and they duke it out," she said.

"This is an election year, and I think we're in desperate trouble and it's time for people to speak up and not pipe down. It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know."

"I saw a movie recently about a camel and these people in Mongolia, and I relate to them better than people here in this country. It looks like (Germany's) Weimar Republic to me here."

It seems that I remember several years back she had to have her nose reconstructed because of all the cocaine she had snorted. It must be impossible to fix what happened to her brain.

You know I couldn't agree with you more about the "middle east trip" and bringing the burqa. She should be forced to read about George Washington during Christmas eve when he faced the wall without time, food, clothes, and very few men left on his side. And he did this all for a country that he thought should have these liberty's that all of us have now.(the very one's she enjoys each day) She should know that many a day he sat and cried over what to do.

I'd give her a week before she would be in tears to return to American and kiss its ground while ripping off that damned burqa. (grrrrrrrrrr)

Doesn't Ronstadt do concert fundraisers for anarchist earth first?

It's mind boggling really that anyone would have the gall to say it. She must feel that her career is over ... or know that her ONLY fans agree with her.

I heard they got her out of the casino by putting a few sticks of butter in the back of a semi and slamming the door when she went for it.

Any Christian or Republican attending her concerts/performances from now on, is neither.

And that's the decree, from Grampa, the final arbitor on such matters. LOL

"It looks like (Germany's) Weimar Republic to me here."

This is ironic and sad on so many levels. She's actually stumbled onto a somewhat valid point, but is deluded as to which side she's actually on - has no concept of the parallels between the liberal socialist elite today and the National Socialist elite then.

Apparently Ms. Ronstadt has a problem controlling her mouth...what comes out as well as what goes in.

I have a theory about these jerks. I think their fame and wealth quickly turns them into egomaniacs. Because they get paid such huge amounts of money to do their thing, they think they are better and smarter than the slobs who throw money to them.

Then, to justify their obscene levels of wasteful living, they turn totally leftist and adopt their "save the camels" causes so they'll be able to convince themselves they are good people, in spite of how selfish they live. They think they deserve it, since they are so "talented".

They can then sit back in one of their mansions or their private jet, calling non-leftists Nazis who don't care about the fly-ridden, starving children, and feel good about "helping" the earth...without having to actually change their lifestyle.

Good for you Linda. You should move to Mongolia and take Michael Fatass Moore and the other Hollyweirdos with you!

That's rather cruel. What the h*** did Mongolia ever do to you?

"Linda Ronstadt was quoted as saying in that she feels uncomfortable performing for Christians and Republicans."

What hypocrites Dems are. They would call that "hate speech"

Linda -

Exit stage left, and don't come back.

DON'T call it censorship either. You p#$$ed off a lot of people, many of whom take it personally, many of whom will remember, and many of whom will now refuse to contribute to your financial success.

Buh-bye!

She sang pretty well on "Canciones de mi Padre". I think that is the only album I have by her. I forget, is Ronstadt not her real last name? Unlike someone like Raquel Welch, I don't think she changed it--there is some German ancestry on her dad's side I think.

She can take her homage to Moore and stuff it though.

Thanks for the ping.

On the radio news this morning, I heard that she dedicated "Desperado" to Moore, which p*ssed off a bunch of fans in Vegas, who responded by leaving in a huff, tearing/defacing her posters in the lobby and/or demanding a refund on the way out. But, this article is a lot more revealing. She now has a spot on my growing list of insufferable liberals.
