Thank GOD for Ronald Reagan sunsets...

Gorgeous, huh?! I've lived in New York, Miami and Los Angeles, and I understand why President Reagan loved the Pacific. The Pacific is compelling in a way the Atlantic is not, although I couldn't begin to explain why.

I've never been farther west than Las Vegas YUCK...I'll be planning a family trip to CA in the next couple of years. We'd like to camp our way out west from NC.

The second and third pictures caused me to lose it again. The elderly white-haired lady, bereft in her grief.

I have asked myself so many times over the past nine days: why are we so grief-stricken that this great man has gone home to the Lord. He lived a wonderful life, he was 93 years old, and he was suffering, not to mention his beloved Nancy's suffering too.

But I still cannot stop my tears from flowing - the feeling of loss is like none I've felt since I lost my dear mother.

We are so lucky to have lived during his lifetime, that we knew him and had him as our President and America and the world's best friend. It's akin to knowing George Washington or Lincoln. Unbelievable. No wonder RATs are gnashing their teeth. They've tried every spin imaginable to either besmirch the man and his legacy, or to say GW can't fill RR's boots, but Kerry can. Ha.

Did they just slide off the existing concrete slab and slide it back? I guess I was expecting that they would excavate through it, but I don't see any fresh concrete. Or is the whole thing fresh concrete?

I was 21 in November 1980, so Reagan was the first president I voted for; I remember to this day pushing the lever in the voting booth next to his name, how thrilled I was that I had the opportunity to do my bit for this great guy... Oh dear. Blurry screen syndrome again.

After Carter conceded, my mom & I went on a cruise up and down Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee, yelling "Landslide!" out of the car windows every few blocks. It was glorious!

A bronze-lined vault. The vault and the casket, together, weigh 4,000 pounds, and required a small crane to lift the vault out of the ground, place the casket in it, place the top of the vault over the base, seal it, and lower it back into the ground.

According to new stories, the grave was covered at 3 am, Pacific time, on Saturday morning.

I predict that the Reagan Library will have a great spike in visitors for the next two to three years. That 707 addition will really have people coming in. I won't be surprised if the annual number of visitors tops at least the 300,000 mark.
I live in Little Rock and of course we have the "great" Clinton Library opening here in November.
The idiots here had a study commissioned and they think they are going to get a steady 300,000 visitors a year. I just don't think so. I imagine after the first year or so after things calm down that Library will settle in to a good 80,000 folks a year and most of them will be bus loads of school kids coming in from around the state and they won't be spending big tourist dollars.
