Clinton Indictment Cited Iraq-bin Laden Link

Though Democrats and most reporters insist there's no operational link between al-Qaida and Iraq, the Clinton Justice Department specifically cited such an alliance when it indicted the 9/11 mastermind six years ago, Weekly Standard reporter Stephen Hayes said Sunday.

"The Clinton administration, in a sealed indictment of Osama bin Laden in the spring of 1998, included very prominently, in the fourth paragraph, a discussion of this agreement," Hayes told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley.

"They called it an understanding between Iraq and al-Qaida, whereby al-Qaida agreed not to agitate against the Iraqi regime," Hayes said. "In exchange the Iraqi regime agreed to supply assistance on weapons development."

Since the outbreak of the Iraq war, numerous Clinton administration officials have argued there was no link between Iraq and al-Qaida.

But in his book "The Connection," Hayes details the portion of the Clinton administration's bin Laden indictment that contradicts those claims, then notes:

"The fact remains that six senior Clinton administration national security officials are on the record defending [the Aug. 20, 1998 strike against Sudan], citing an Iraqi connection."

All these pertinent facts come out in all these PRIVATE books and instead of history, they treat it like rumor.

When, if ever, will the press do it's job and just report the news?

The fact that we have only private books with individuals having to dig all this up instead of the press is evidence that we actually have no professional press. They are nothing but entertainment these days.

Fox, is the only real press on TV these days.

Here's a way Clinton unwittingly helped al qaeda/qaida. Remember Kosovo? The terrorist group, KLA? Clinton's beloved KLA is in league with al qaida

Yes, many of us who screamed against the Kosovo war knew Clinton brought us in on the wrong side. Trying to stop the Marxist/islamic/narco/terrorists from taking his country, is why Slobo is on trial...and why he will (should) be set free.

A travesty.

How about the Monica connection? As I remember, there was quite a discussion on the wag the dog theory when the attacks on the aspirin factory and tents in Afghan were made.

Too bad WABC took away Monica Crowley's weekday hours and gave them to the moronic Mark Levin.

She has more contacts with people who are able to make an intellectual case for our present policies and her own research brings enlightenment to the listener.

The problem is that the Administration and Republicans do very little to counter the lib/dem lies. The only one who managed to counter a set of lib/dem lies got skewered by his own President. When AG Ashcroft presented the declassified Gorelick memos to counter her lies, the President came out--not against the memo writer, but against his own AG. Talk about demanding loyal. You would think that a President who demands loyalty from his team would be loyal to them.

A November 1998 Information Agency release reports the indictment of Osama bin Laden and cites the "Iraq "link" in the 3rd to last paragraph. Check it out for yourself at: http://usinfo.state.gov/topical/pol/terror/98110402.htm
