CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST

Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."

The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.

Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.

Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.

"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.

Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.

The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

I would also be more than willing to do my 'duty,' as well as make sure that X42's patch in the sod was maintained. I just can't believe how that worthless piece of trash tries to insinuate himself into everything.

Why in the world would he even EXPECT to be asked? He and the great Ronald Reagan aren't in the same league. Bubba isn't worthy to kiss RWW's cowboy boots! Where ever there's a camera for Bubba to grand stand in front of, he'll be there. I'm sure it's a big disappointment to him since the eyes of the world will be on this funeral. That's what the rub is for him. Shameful!

Clinton only spoke because he was the sitting President. If he wasn't in office at the time, he would not have been asked to speak!

That's the difference. Pres Bush #41 was Pres Reagan's VP for 8 years and cannot compare that to Ford who actually took over from Nixon because of Watergate. You can rest assured that the Nixon family did not want Clinton but as the sitting President, what were they going to do?

..and wasn't Hillary illegally "creating" precedents do even deny President Nixon the Constitutional Right to Counsel in the Congressional Hearings trying to impeach and convict Richard Nixon?
Or sure, let's let Sinkmaster Bill Clinton PR his new book and add a resume enhancing revision of history and slip in a Kerry &/or

The amazing thing about the "Clinton insider"'s statement that the state funeral is using tax dollars is the assumption, on this part, that the public interest is served by having Beezlebubba speak at the funeral.

To be a "Clinton insider" is to occupy a completely alternate reality...

After what the Democrats did to Paul Wellstone's memorial, Bill Clinton should be grateful that he's allowed to attend at all.

Go whizz up a rope, Bubba! This is one event that you won't be able to make all about you.

What I see are people who were intimately associated with RR, for the most part. I don't see anything partisan about it.

However, who wants the somber moment tainted by that white trash grifter?

Those two treasonous bastards shouldn't even be allowed to attend.

You and I agree.

They should be allowed to speak. If you recall, Clinton did a good and respectful job at Nixon's funeral.

Sorry, it's Nancy's call. They were not his personal friends. GHW Bush most certainly was and GW Bush is the current President, and probably was a personal friend as well, at least through his father.

Not surprising that Clinton would have good things to say about Nixon, aside from their politics and sexual proclivities, they were a lot alike.

That political cartoon was "dead-on."

Sure, a nonpartisan funeral would include Hinckley and Clinton...

Heck, the people who have no respect for the law should get to sit in the front row just to remind the rest of us of their importance.

Who speaks at any funeral is up to the family!!! We don't own President Reagan. Let the family choose who they'd like to speak. PERIOD.

They have every right to ask W and GHWB to speak and not Clinton and Carter. I'd bet they're asking W to speak because he's the current Pres and they're asking GHWB because he's a loyal and faithful friend. I don't care if they ask Howdy Doody to speak, I'm going to be watching while standing in my living room with my hand over my heart (and likely shedding a tear or two or ten).

If it was an insult for the likes of Clinton to speak at Nixon's funeral, and it sure as he"ck?" was, it would be a travesty of all things right, for him to speak at Reagan's.

Let's just advertise a wet t-shirt contest down the road in Simi-Valley and forget about him...

Praise God, Reagan did not pass away during Clinton's terms in office.

No bet. I'm pretty sure the usual band of immature malcontents and America-haters will be there making noise for their cause du jour...

That wouldn't bother President Reagan. "There you go again" or something like that would be his response. However there is another group of America, and freedom, haters that might try to affect the ceremonies... them we can do without.

It happened once a couple years ago. You could sign up, but the new account would not activate. This lasted about 2 days or so. There was a bug, John fixed it.

Neither Clinton nor Carter should be there.

Carter is a disgrace to the submarine force, and it is an outrage that he is getting a boat named after him. I hope it spends most of it's life in the shipyard.

IMHO, Nancy would know that Ronnie would no more have wanted Clinton and Carter at his funeral. What hypocrites to slam President Reagen when he was alive and then to think they would be welcome to his funeral.

President Reagan's spirit and legacy are still with us and I am sure he is in Heaven have his special little chuckle over this charade.
