CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST

Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."

The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.

Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.

Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.

"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.

Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.

The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Reagan didn't want to risk the possibility that American voters would be as stupid as they were in 1992.

Yep, the Clintons will give their campaign eulogies on the cathedral doorsteps, just like with 9/11.

Bush I was Reagan's veep for 8 years, I'd put him on the list of eulogists. But Ford should be left off as well as Clinton and Carter.

Of course, it's Nancy's call, but I would rather have Gorbachev speak than Clinton or Carter. It would be a fascinating eulogy.

I have long enjoyed your posts here, your comments, and your intellect, but as for your weird desire to post soemthing on DU, why do you want to waste your time "pissing into the wind?"

Your back! I'm most pleased to see you, though I'm sorry it took the death of President Reagan to get you here. I hope all is well with you and yours.

This man is the most selfish, arrogant, egomaniac I have ever laid eyes on. Unbelievable. Its not about you Clinton, its about Reagan.

The Clintonistas are publicly naming NANCY REAGAN as leaving Clinton off the list... they have NO SHAME!

After committing treason, how hard can bashing Mrs. Reagan be?

I am just waiting for the leftist rent-a-mobs to show up and protest the viewing period, motorcade, and funeral.

Bill Clintoon remains the true example of a classless human. The mere fact that he allows spokesmen to make comments saying he's 'angry and disappointed', and then release a picture of himself w/ R.R. surely reaches the pinnacle of depravity. "Don't Forget Me", he's yelling. Don't worry Bill, we'll be living w/ the results of your treacherous actions over those wasted 8 years for countless years to come. It would be 100% dishonorable to allow this insolent and unprincipled man to speak at this funeral. Think of all the people on earth who are better qualified to speak of R.R. and you'll have a big laugh just like I have just had, and I can't wait to read this entire thread. LOL

[ President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, ]

Non partisan or bi-partisan are mirages. Even Libertarians are partisan.. Bi-partisan legislation is NOT bi-partisan and independant really means stealth democrat. American politics has become a game with sides, a sport. Like american wrestling, except more serious, kinda. A large part of america believes wrestling is legit and Al Gore is not a moron and Art Bell is a truth seeker. And I'm talking about the public school teachers, their students are even dumber and are Jerry Springer fans.

Let's not forget that we live in America. From his Harlem offices, Clinton is free to eulogize President Reagan to his heart's content. I'm sure the media would play it on TV, or at the very least report on it.

He can call Mrs. Reagan to offer private condolences. Perhaps he has done so. I'm sure she would take a phonecall from a former President.

But none of those things will suffice. He has to be IN THE MOMENT. The STAR OF THE SHOW. Too classless to even permit a widow to choose the speakers at her husbands funeral without sticking his nose in.

When my time comes, I'd rather be dumped in a ditch than to have a loathsome creature like clinton speak at my elaborate funeral.

These complaints are so tasteless and idiotic that they must have come from an "unnamed source close to Clinton" who is actually a mole for the Republican Party.

Due to her condition, Margaret Thatcher will not be speaking live, but a taped eulogy that she recorded a few months ago will be played.

If Clinton and Carter don't like it - tough.
