Hey Mike, Sorry about getting this off kinda late, been pretty hectic around here recently. Not quite sure what you're hearing from the news, I don't get a whole lot of time to follow it. For the most I feel that the Iraqi people actually appreciate us being here. The attacks that are happening are basically a result of unemployment, and a few terrorists (or whatever you want to call them) paying people off to do the attacks. From what I've heard from the locals around my sector they are pretty much just trying to do what they can to improve their quality of life. But when so many people are out of jobs, they will pretty much do anything they can to make ends meet to provide for themselves and their families. There are many issues that need to be resolved as far as rebuilding their country. And though the people want as many issues resolved as quickly as possible, they can't be resolved that way in an efficient manner. There are already many Iraqi police and ICDC which are basically the guys we are going after, and they use the support of the coalition forces as a cover, so the rest of the people won't be able to fight back. So it may be a long road ahead, but for the large majority of the Iraqi people, they want us here, and they want us to help them rebuild. That always makes me feel good about being here, actually making a difference in these people's lives and giving them opportunities they've never had. It always amazes me how people don't think we should be here. I don't think they really understand what life is like here and how these people were treated. But I suppose most people will never understand that. Well, it's great to hear you're enjoying your new house. I might have to take a trip up there once my time is up. I'll send ya e-mails when I can. Brian

I know that God is holding your brother close. There is nothing more noble than a man who sacrifices his life for others. I can't tell you how proud we are that men like your brother are made here, they are us, they are the BEST of us.
Don't ever let anyone tell you that his death was for nothing. God knows, we know, and the Iraqi people know just how much his life mattered.
We mourn his loss with you.

There are already many Iraqi police and ICDC [Iraqi Civil Defence Corps] which are basically the guys we are going after, and they use the support of the coalition forces as a cover, so the rest of the people won't be able to fight back. Sounds like a major challenge...

Thanks for the pings....I have emailed this story everywhere as requested.
What an outstanding American young Sgt. Brian Woods was.....and what a tragic loss.
America is grateful that torch of the 'greatest generation' has been passed on to many in Brian's generation.
May God comfort his family.

I am so sorry for your loss, but at the same time you are to be so proud of your brother. He is an American hero, and should be the model that all young people look up to. Grieve your loss, but take comfort in the fact that your brother will always be remembered as a GREAT American. Prayers for you and your family.

"As long as God grants me the ability to know love, I will love your brother and all his brothers and sisters in arms. In a personal sense, he is not my son. In an American sense, he is very much my son. While his death and those of each precious American son and daughter in uniform rips my heart, he has made me deeply, humbly, unshakably proud....."
Your words echo the sentiments I find myself feeling every day I hear or read that another of our courageous troops has been killed or injured. They are poignant and well stated.
MBIAAH - Your brother's, and all his comrades, sacrifices will never be forgotten or lost on my family. I have two young daughters who have yet to understand the reality of the world we live in. They, will soon inherit a world that will be dictated by our countries actions now. When I hold them, carry them in my arms, say their prayers with them - I understand all to well that men and women like your brother are attempting to make it a safer place for them.
I will never forget what your brother has done for my family and my country.
May God be with all of them as they bring the fight to the enemies of freedom.
