Breaking News on Fox
Gee, is it coincidence that these type of "where is he moving to" comments are most often discussed by DUers?
MSNBC reporter, Carl Rochelle, says Tenet's farewell to the Agency was emotional, there were tears. Tenet's wife and son were there, and Tenet told the assembled CIA that his leaving was based solely on what was best for his family. Then Rochelle says, Tenet will rest for awhile, he's been 2nd longest CIA Director, at 7 years, so he'll take awhile to decide what he's going to do next.
Personal reasons...don't you love it?
I love the timing! Tenet was going to go. (after embarrassing Powell at the UN), Tenet was going to go, we just didn't know when. And there couldn't have been a better (smarter) day.
June 6 memorials will help drown out the noise, the Peterson trial too, and the President is leaving for Europe.
The 9-ll Commission Report coming out will be scathing to Tenet's CIA, Tenet couldn't have survived that. Upon finding out about 9-11, Tenet said to someone, "I sure hope it's not connected to those Moslems taking flying lessons.", that's what sealed his fate.
I don't think Tenet will be writing a book or go after President Bush. After all, Bush has not demanded Tenet's head on a platter, and Tenet is a long time, Bush family friend.
The most interesting possible connection to explain "why today?" I think, is President Bush hiring a lawyer about Joe Wilson's wife blown cover investigation. I think it's quite possible that Novak got his info from Tenet.
CIA Director resigns... President hires a lawyer:
I keep reminding myself how "in the dark" we are on a big news day like today. All the action that brought these announcements on, occured days ago.
I think all the handwringing is phoney baloney. Diane Feinstein might be all over television saying how surprised she is Tenet would resign now is BS. That's just her way of trying to imply that Tenet leaving the CIA at such a critical time, is a bad thing for the country.
C-mom --- I suspect he just decided he was tired of the pressure-cooker job!
Too tough for some people to comprehend.
They've clearly never been in the situation.
.
"its how the media spins it - reality means nothing. 95% of Americans don't even know who Tenet is."
Yep. I just told my mom Tenet had resigned, and her response was "Who?"
They will.
Spouting the FraudCasters and DUers tested arguments here?
why?
.
So have I.
"We are in this for a long time, because the threat environment we find ourselves in today is as bad as it was last summer -- the summer before 9/11. They intend to strike this homeland again. We better get about the business of putting the right structure in place as fast as we can."
Knowing this he should not have resigned. Or maybe knowing this and knowing he was ineffectual at the CIA helm he should have resigned. Either way, the Prez got his way in this resignation.
would you please cool it with the DU stuff. Making an observation with regards to what the media spin will be on this has nothing to do with "testing for DU". It doesn't help to put our heads in the sand, absent the media, Kerry would (and should) be 20 points behind now. This Tenet story will be part of their attack now.
I think probably Tenet's health is bad, which is why he is resigning. If it were because of trouble with his son, or his wife, we would have heard about it. My guess is "personal reasons" was the excuse for the public, especially if the son is at an age where he is volatile and would go ballistic over his dad's health.
Or not. I know no more about this than anyone else speculating here. LOL!
C'mon, Peach - certainly you've noticed that? How about JGault, for one recent belated example. I've seen many "reagan" and "freedom", etc. posters I am IMMEDIATELY suspicious of, and their posts are often anti-conservative.
Sorry - have to run now - carry on, y'all...
Yes. After having some time to think about this, it's likely the confirmation process will happen after the election.
Hey there!
I "slept in". Got up about 6:30, but didn't log in until 7:30 (my time, 10:30 yours). I literally had just gotten on FR when Fox did a GONG and had REAL breaking news, so I tried my hand at being first at posting! LOL
I'm glad it's quieting down so I can continue with some chores.
I also think Tenet may have been one of Novak's sources. Not by way of trying to harm Plame or Wilson, but by way of explanation for why on earth Joe Wilson, of all people, had been sent to Niger, so Tenet explained this sub-group in the agency had come up with it, and he mentioned the wife by way of fuller explanation. He has publicly said the thing about the sub-group sending Wilson "on their own volition".
Gotta run right now, but I have to say I agree with what you wrote.
Peace.
.
Oh I know they are here. I just hadn't cottoned onto the fact that they deliberately chose conservative sounding names. Very interesting...
So we probably have DNC plants here on FR who have chosen conservative sounding names? Interesting...
I think the Pope is still Catholic.
I can name a few for you.
I was wondering where you were!
Thanks for your input.
Andrea Mitchel assured us if it were really personal he'd have gone long ago.
*censored word here* <---my thought about Andrea
I agree. Bring Woolsey back. And I'd like to see Guiliani at Justice to replace Ashcroft.
I'm not saying we won't get the best choice for the job, just that the nominee may be someone out of left field.
