so he's been director for 7 years, stayed on an additional year, been there through two wars, survived the grilling of the 9-11 commission....but couldn't hold on for 150 more days?

Not as important as Bush's, but more important than most every other job. Americans do care if the CIA Director and the FBI Director are not serving honorably and competently. More than they do about every other job.

I'm wondering if he is the source of the Wilson leak.

Doubtful. That woman and her nutcase husband are very very far under Tenet's radar.

Clinton is in a wheel chair.

What the heck.

I wish he was six-feet under like Vince Foster.

Novak could end this Wilson/Plame obsession if, in the interest of national security, he would "out" his source who allegedly committed a felony. Novak is not a priest.

Oh please! This could be something as simple as the guy missing the great majority of his kids lives. He's in a high pressure, 24/7 job and maybe, just maybe he'd actually like to do something like see his kids grow up.

He's done a superb job at the CIA and has worked miracles to rebuild it after what was done to it over the years. Sometimes things really ARE just what they say.

I disagree that he's perfectly qualified. He has no/limited knowledge of the bureaucracy @ the CIA and IMO it's imperative that the next DCI have an immediate understanding of that so that he can fix it. I fear that Rudy's learning curve would be too long and he wouldn't be able to bring the reforms that are needed @ the CIA.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - CIA Director George Tenet is resigning for personal reasons, President Bush said Thursday.

I was hoping the article could have been a little more vague. </sarcasm>

It's the CIA. Vague is both useful and useless at the same time, but for different reasons which may indeed serve the same purpose.

MSNBC wasted no time to get Kristen Breitweiser on the phone. I just caught the end.

As a "family member" she is concerned because during the summer of 2001 there was only an acting head (referring to the FBI, I take it?) and 9/11 happened.

She is distressed that no one is being held accountable.

My comment: She is distressed that we are holding the terrorists responsible.

Everyone: please notice -

OCEANVIEW believes there is EXTREME SIGNIFICANCE to the fact that this occurred 150 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION.

It would also have EXTREME SIGNIFICANCE if it occurred 150 days after 9/11, or only 12 days after a full moon.

Please pay no attention to the fact that George Tenet served two administrations for longer than the average CIA director served one administration. Please pay no attention that he stayed on at President Bush's request for a lengthy period of time after he first made known he wanted out.

It is, after all, 150 days BEFORE THE ELECTION. oceanview says so.
