I was listening to a CNN news update last night which cited the "Not hard enough on Bush" statistics but conveniently left out the liberal to conservative ratio. These people are biased even on stories about their own bias.

My take - a "moderate" is a liberal too ashmaed to call himself a liberal. A conservative will always state they are a conservative.
Therefore, I suggest adding liberal and moderates to get the true liberal media. This would be 54% + 34% = 88%. Compared to the 7% who describe themselves as conservative indicates a whopping 12:1 ratio of libs to real Americans. This is more in line to what most of us see and hear in the mainstream media.

That's in line with the 1992 poll showing that 89% of journalists voted for Clinton.

Another prime example of a misleading headline...
Exactly one of these percentages is correct:
The 7% of those reporters who admitted they are conservative. They have some sense of morals and have a moral compass and know what they stand for, and will not lie about it.
All the other 93% are liberals. Some admit it (34%) and the rest lie about it.
That nicely fits with Jhensy's #15: "In my experience, I would put the percentage at 90% liberal, 5% closet conservative who keep their mouths shut due to career concerns, and 5% outspoken conservative. ", by the way...

My thoughts exactly. Those who say they are moderate are not; they only think they are moderate because they associate and work with the ultra-liberal. How naive.
To: AFPhys
Agree with you and Post #15 -- 90% liberal would be my bet as well!

Would bet the ratio is a lot higher then Pew is saying. It's got to be. We know that liberals find it difficult to tell the truth.

come on dont bulsh1t me. you know how conservative american journalists are when all they report about is how "insurgents" are killing people. how often do you hear about american soldiers killing people? not very often. the american media only reports when an american soldier is killed so we can all feel sorry for the american soldier and turn our anger towards iraqis which is complete nonsense.

Pew is generally liberal, but this is a very interesting study.
Old thread, but always worth the reminder.

Journalists are mostly trying to bring about change, which means the Hillary!08 campaign is a fellow traveller.

Gee, I only have to turn on my tv, or pick up a newspaper to see the same thing.

"Five times more national outlet journalists identify themselves as liberal, 34 percent, than conservative, a mere 7 percent"
Not surprising, but those figures hardly begin to tell the tale. All or nearly all of the 59% calling themselves "moderate" are truly very liberal, and certainly quite hostile to any conservative principles. This game has been played for a long time, and most MSM so-called "journalists" know that they are supposed to pretend to be objective, and they don't want to acknowledge the veracity of charges that the media is liberal-biased.... so they call themselves 'moderate' (and may even believe it).
The real news is that only 7% of respondents call themselves conservative, and even for most of them it's probably for economic/free market reasons more than social/cultural reasons.
What media bias?? What left-leaning MSM?
