This is nothing that hasn't been known at FR for a long time. But this caller was so immediately compelling and heard, no doubt by many of you, that I thought it would be a good chance to air these issues again:

o The media is killing us - deliberately. o The politicians and field commanders are buckling to the pressure from the reported images. o The people in America are virtually clueless as to what we are fighting for or the threat they pose due to their hate. (FReepers and Dittoheads excepted) o The problem is the absolute intolerance of Islam.

I guess others can fill in additional impressions of this most important report from the front and suggest what we can do to lift the veil (here and there literally) and bring about victory.

Hopefully an mp3 of this call will be made available.

I heard it too.

We don't fully appreciate, yet, what we're up against.

One only hopes that Bush keeps (regains?) his backbone and sees it through.

The left is determined to defeat the US like they did in Vietnam. I'm sure they hope to damage the US for decades.... Again.

"He said that every Iraqi is permitted to keep an AK-47 or pistol."

There's the problem! Have a law that says 'Show Gun - Get Shot'. Problem soon resolved, one way or another.

I listened to that call from Jeff. We owe Rush big time for giving him the time that he did.

Thank God for soldiers like Jeff who put their lives on the line for us.

I think we need a very long list of those who sponsor our left media sources who are giving aid and comfort to the enemy. We also need to turn them off and tune them out. If they have no audience....they may change their tune - but don't hold your breath!

As I've been saying for weeks, only clowns run a war with the hope they they do not offend the enemy.

This war is run by a bunch of incompetents who are infected with the disease of PC.

I'm not sure he was clear on why we couldn't respond to incoming mortar fire. I can't imagine any commander allowing this . . . unless they think that if it's 1-2 rounds and the chances of finding a fire location in the dark is just negigible, and may, in fact, cost several soldiers to go out and do this.

I'm not sure he meant that rules of engagement have changed DUE TO media interference IN THIS CASE.

Now, he was clear that on the street, the presence of al-=Jazeera and other cameras has had a negative effect.

RUSH CALLER: IRAQ - "Rules Have Changed" - Soldiers in Iraq Cannot Respond to Incoming Mortar Fire

He didn't say this. He said that the official rules of engagement haven't changed but that, given TV cameras from new organizations everywhere, not the embedded reporters who really knew what was going on, they were made to feel very reluctant about responding to provocation. He said that he had even been subjected to mortar fire and they didn't respond. He didn't say that they cannot respond to mortar fire because the rules had changed.

I sure would like the Defense Department, under the order of The Commander in Chief, issue an edict stating that all foreign and domestic reporters, journalists, network representatives and all media assets are hearby requested to leave Iraq immediately within 48 hours. Anyone that does not comply will be detained and removed from the country.

But by the time he left Iraq, soldiers literally had to take incoming mortar rounds without responding or actually have someone shot before returning fire

Sorry, but I find this extremely hard to believe.

o The media is killing us - deliberately.
o The politicians and field commanders are buckling to the pressure from the reported images.
o The people in America are virtually clueless as to what we are fighting for or the threat they pose due to their hate.

The people are clueless because the media and the educators have never told them the truth. Anyone who has grown up in America in the past 50 years or so has been told: "Saladin good -- Crusaders bad." The media suppress the facts in the Middle East and the facts about Islam.

As for the second point, the Republican politicians are caving. The Democrat politicians have helped organize the media blackout and are working closely with the press to demonize Bush.

Apparently the only way to get the word out to people is for them to see for themselves. A few nuked cities maybe. I don't know what else will do it. And even that will be spun by the press as far as they can.

soldier "Jeff, from Morehead OK" calling in to Rush Limbaugh explained that in Iraq wedding parties and funerals are full of people with guns who often fire on American troops that happen by.... But by the time he left Iraq, soldiers literally had to take incoming mortar rounds without responding

Makes it almost sound like the Iraqi's take mortar's to wedding parties to celebrate.

There was a report last week that the guards are Iraqi prisons were issued rubber bullets.

In one uprising, the guards were unable to put it down (with rubber bullets). Luckily, the next line of defense had 'real' bullets and managed to bring the uprising under control.

Also, hooding is now longer allowed either.
