A soldier "Jeff, from Morehead OK" calling in to Rush Limbaugh explained that in Iraq wedding parties and funerals are full of people with guns who often fire on American troops that happen by. The self-identified soldier who spent 356 days in Iraq reported in response to a question from Rush that when he first went to Iraq the troops "took care of business" when fired upon. But by the time he left Iraq, soldiers literally had to take incoming mortar rounds without responding or actually have someone shot before returning fire. He said that every Iraqi is permitted to keep an AK-47 or pistol. And while most Iraqis accept U.S. presence, many are clearly hostile. The problem, according to him, is largely the media. There are cameras everywhere. And the Iraqis "know the media is in their pocket" and they can't respond in any way that might be recorded and sent CNN or Al-Jazeera. In his opinion the politician are impeding the troops and their fear of the media may lead to our defeat.
Being home for a month he did say, as most other returning troops have, that it is better than the media portrays. The news reports in Oklahoma are more frightening than being there. But he described in detail the difference in the intensity of dealing with Sunnis, Shiites and Wahabbis and that the difficulty of dealing with them was strictly related to the individual's and group's religious zeal with "Wahabbis being the worst." He said, "They hate us." solely "because we are not them", that is not Muslims. "I've never felt as hated anywhere before." "They need freedom of religion more than anything else" in order to reduce the threat they pose to the world.
Additionally, he said the Arab fighters are "cowards" in their tactics and that we could "win this war fairly quickly" if the military were allowed to get back to doing its job.
o The media is killing us - deliberately. o The politicians and field commanders are buckling to the pressure from the reported images. o The people in America are virtually clueless as to what we are fighting for or the threat they pose due to their hate. (FReepers and Dittoheads excepted) o The problem is the absolute intolerance of Islam.
I guess others can fill in additional impressions of this most important report from the front and suggest what we can do to lift the veil (here and there literally) and bring about victory.
Hopefully an mp3 of this call will be made available.
I heard it too.
We don't fully appreciate, yet, what we're up against.
One only hopes that Bush keeps (regains?) his backbone and sees it through.
Rush is scooping the lib-media.

MIchael Savage was saying Bush went from "Let's Roll" to "Let's Roll Over." I don't know. This is all above my pay grade. But it makes you wonder if we are doing the best we can or not.
But ive yet to see anyone get shot at here.
The left is determined to defeat the US like they did in Vietnam. I'm sure they hope to damage the US for decades.... Again.

Who is "we"?
"He said that every Iraqi is permitted to keep an AK-47 or pistol."
There's the problem! Have a law that says 'Show Gun - Get Shot'. Problem soon resolved, one way or another.
Thank God for soldiers like Jeff who put their lives on the line for us.
I think we need a very long list of those who sponsor our left media sources who are giving aid and comfort to the enemy. We also need to turn them off and tune them out. If they have no audience....they may change their tune - but don't hold your breath!
As I've been saying for weeks, only clowns run a war with the hope they they do not offend the enemy.
This war is run by a bunch of incompetents who are infected with the disease of PC.
I'm not sure he meant that rules of engagement have changed DUE TO media interference IN THIS CASE.
Now, he was clear that on the street, the presence of al-=Jazeera and other cameras has had a negative effect.
Thanks for the summation. I was so busy today I couldn't even put my headphones on to tune in.
And yes, just about everyone over there carries a gun. If our troops shot at every single person they saw carrying an AK, they would have to kill 90% of the population.
Now, I agree that if you SHOW a weapon in public when an American is around, it's lights out. But I don't think we can or should disarm everyone any more than we should prohibit protest marches. We allowed protest marches in Japan, and 100,000 marched against us in May 1946 . . . to no effect.
I sure would like the Defense Department, under the order of The Commander in Chief, issue an edict stating that all foreign and domestic reporters, journalists, network representatives and all media assets are hearby requested to leave Iraq immediately within 48 hours. Anyone that does not comply will be detained and removed from the country.
