[history]
May 18, 2004 -- CANNES, France - President Bush need not lose any sleep over Michael Moore's much-hyped "Fahrenheit 9/11," which turns out to be a wet firecracker. Moore's virulent feature-length attack on Bush, which premiered yesterday to a 20-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, falls far short of delivering on the filmmaker's extravagant promises of election-swinging revelations.

Sure, there's some media-grabbing footage - apparently shot by one of the camera crews Moore claims to have smuggled in with embedded troops - of American soldiers laughing as they place hoods over Iraqi prisoners, and one GI touching a detainee's genitals through a blanket.
How is this ANY different than the footage that CBS already has shown photos of?
If it turns out that the prison guards at Abu Gerbil were working for Michael Moore (we already know that at least one DID release the images), what then?
Will SeeBS do a mea culpa and realize they played Lumpy Riefenstahl's propaganda game?

Wonder if this will be suppressed for 32 years like Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland's "F*** The Army".

Mostly Moore dusts off a litany of old accusations against the president - whom he portrays as both a buffoon and a world-class conspirator - and lands few solid blows as he takes on targets like the Patriot Act and supposed war profiteering by the politically connected Halliburton Corp.
Should this guy--along with Kerry, the Democrats, and the media establishment--be held at least partially responsible for Halliburton now being a target of OBL, et. al?
Anyway, I wish I could find Lee's post debunking Halliburton's "profiteering" on his
Right Thinking. I didn't find it with a brief look, but it was a good article. He's got a knack for destroying Moore's idiocy.

Wonder if this will be suppressed for 32 years like Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland's "F*** The Army". Or like Kerry's The New Soldier? In January, I got put on the waiting list for the book at the New York Public Library. I was fourth on the list. Four months later, I'm still fourth on the list! Either somebody has checked out the book and not returned it, or the library is not allowing it to be checked out.

That went well for K-Mart didn't it?

The book was probably stolen from the library ("lost"). It was either burned (Kerry supporter) or sold on eBay (greedy Kerry supporter).

I've saw part of FTA. I haven't seen Kerry lurking around any of the protests but then I only saw the first half.
There is also a Winter Soldier documentary which I have not located (or even looked for). A cult movie magazine editor has listed it among his recent aquisitions but he probably won't get another issue of his magazine published before next year (he takes about a year to do so and this one took much longer). The University of Rochester library has a VHS copy. Maybe someone there could view it for FR.

Looking at Google, there are other libraries that also have the Winter Soldier documentary (from 1972).

GOD will not be mocked! His word is clear!
"Touch not GOD's anointed". "No weapon formed against President Bush can prosper, and every tongue that rises up against him has been condemned already".
People who attack the President do so at their own risk. I just wouldn't be standing very close if I were you.

A standing ovation in Cannes. And where is Cannes again? Oh yes, Cheeseland.

Interesting that after months of investigation of prisoner abuse by the Military, all declared as it went. That CBS chooses this particular time to manufacture a media frenzy about it.
Just in time for a movie release with it as a central issue, let's see the movies financed by who else but Disney. which also owns CBS, which has been in financial tough times lately for lack of revenues.
Look's like they have found a willing audience.
