Such a log wouldn't prove they didn't receive them. That system is too open to complete manipulation.
Unless the letters were sent registered mail, or the Senators sent replies, nobody can prove anything. I can give you a copy of a letter I sent to the White House saying Lincoln should stay away from Ford's Theater, but that wouldn't prove anything.

Sent by 17 liberals more interested in doing harm to the president than keeping soldiers safe in Iraq.

Hillary will never have to take responsibility for any of her doings, no matter. She is too well protected by the MSM, as well as her FBI files.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?
That is precisely why we have been struggling in the election. Because "the other side" doesn't get reported. It's just as if we said absolutely nothing in our defense.

I do not believe all is as portrayed by Hackworth. And neither do I. However I believe as Senator McCain. This information should be released to the public. It causes no additional danger and releases no vital information about the troops. Other than it seems there is a rogue group of military leaders that needs to be rooted out. The soldiers should face judgement but the leaders that gave orders, or lack thereof however the case may be, should face the exact punishment. And from what we've seen since these pictures were released, I do not believe that they would have faced any punishment if they had not been released

The 17 were supposedly notified (by constitutents serving in Iraq) of the prisoner abuse long before the pictures surfaced. Ah, now I see. Thanks.

AT LEAST ONE DEMOCRAT "GETS IT"
"I cannot help but say ... that those who were responsible for killing 3,000 Americans on September 11th, 2001, never apologized. Those who have killed hundreds of Americans in uniform in Iraq, working to liberate Iraq and protect our security, have never apologized. And those who murdered and burned and humiliated four Americans in Fallujah a while ago, never (gave) an apology (to) anybody."
- Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Ct.) on the absence of apologies from Arab leaders when Muslims commit far greater atrocities against Americans and our allies

This is bullshit. The seventeen were not contacted in an effort to inform them of abuses that were occurring in the prison. They were contacted by William Lawson in an effort to obtain an acquittal for Sgt. Frederick, who is accused of abusing prisoners. As in, acquit my nephew or I'll go public with this story. The Senators ignored the blackmail attempt and Hackworth has taken up the blackmailer's cause.

No matter WHAT the letters say, no matter WHAT their response was, they still all have their butts covered by Centcom's revelation way back in January.
The only ongoing problem during the hearing is Hillary's "OWN WORDS" and Rummy's response. Hillary will tell us today what she really meant by it.

And from what we've seen since these pictures were released, I do not believe that they would have faced any punishment if they had not been releasedWeren't there courts martial already in progress -- before the photos were leaked?
I don't know how much sentencing discretion is allowed to military judges, but I'd guess they have a lot less leeway than civilian judges.
To: Gracey
Yes, I heard Lieberman say that. I give him credit.
It's truly amazing though how he transformed back and forth during his run for the WH with Algore, isn't it?

Oh yeah: I forgot to mention that the pictures which were leaked were part of an ongoing criminal investigation. So not only did the leaker break the law and interfere in a criminal investigation, every media outlet that publishes the photos is breaking the law by interfering in ongoing criminal procedings.
