Oh yeah: I forgot to mention that the pictures which were leaked were part of an ongoing criminal investigation. So not only did the leaker break the law and interfere in a criminal investigation, every media outlet that publishes the photos is breaking the law by interfering in ongoing criminal procedings.

Sure it was. Sounds like it was going blazingly well. What were they planning on doing to these soldiers? Letting them get out of the Armed Forces to live a long and happy life and perhaps send them a nasty letter twenty years later?
