Excellent analysis!

Rummy is the ONLY one I trust in this administration. Bush went up a millimeter by standing by him.. Course he went down 2 millimeters by supporting Specter. Bush is down 1 millimeter this week in this context.

God Bless the strong warrior we have in Rummy!

"After all of the
cr@p that Rummy has had to put up with over the past couple of days, I want him to know that he is doing a great job as Secretary of Defense and he is now and always will be one of my favorite people in the George W. Bush Administration.
There are good days and there are rough days, and I want to let Secretary Rumsfeld know that I support him each and every day.
I'm not the most eloquent FReeper out there, but these are my sentiments."
An: "I couldn't have said it better myself" bump....
thank you for this thread, Momaw Nadon! And I'm glad to see you posting.
He has done a great job and I don't want him to leave. This is not his fault. He has done a great job. And let's not forget, that's why the liberals want him gone! :)
I believed him this morning when Sen. Graham asked him about resigning. Sec. Rumsfeld said, "If I thought I couldn't be effective anymore I would resign."
You could tell by watching him that yes, he has thought a lot about that. If a person loved his country and its military, who would not think about that? Of course he has.

If you notice there has been a pattern here as to which Bush cabinet member is being dragged through the media coals. A few weeks back it was Condi, then John Ashcroft and of course when there's no other scandal you can go after President Bush/and or VP Cheney. Now it's Rummy's turn.

"Do the Dems hate G W Bush so much that they would sacrifice American lives for political gain?"
Unfortunately I think the answer is yes.
That's why I switched from being a lifelong Democrat (really!) to a Republican affiliation in '96.
I did vote for Ronald Reagan in 1980 because my Dad told me to. :)
But that was the last Republican presidential candidate I voted for until I (very) happily wrote in my ballot in 2000 for GW and Dick Cheney.
In '96, I'd already changed, but it's a long story why I was unable to cast my ballot for Bob Dole.
[/end life history.]

"If possible when this thread is finished can we print it out and mail it to him?"
I think that's a great idea. :)
Sec. Rumsfeld has served this country admirably and while the apology is okay with me, and the reparations are okay with me, sacrificing Rummy would not be. It's not fair, just for political reasons.
Let's find out what really happened and punish just those people, not a man who has been so busy trying to protect this nation that he trusted people to take care of this outrage and didn't even see the pictures until yesterday.
Okay, goodnight all... I had to post because the news media up here thinks Rumsfeld won't last the weekend.
I hope that, as usual, Canada is wrong.

I'm with you on Secretary Rumsfeld.....How nice it would be if more than 1 or 2 of the "questioners" from the House and Senate Committees had this man's character and integrity. I thank heaven that he is the one in charge at the Department of Defense. He must stay for the good of this country and because we need him.

If my favorite FReeper
whoever were still here, she would have posted a resounding "2 thumbs up" for Secretary Rumsfeld. I will do so in her stead.

Bush & Rumsfeld are like Lincoln and Grant during the 1864 election year. The Democrats ripped Lincoln apart for failures in the war, but the wisdom of the common American people saw strength, union and freedom is old Abe! Grant took care of the rest, providing timely battlefield victories when they were most needed. God was at Lincoln's side in that race. We need his hand of guidence in this period of traitorship from within by the current Democrat Party!

Well, that is a really upbeat and postive note to the SOD and hope it finds the right eyes where it can be most appreciated.
I randomly glimpsed the "apology session" today - it was a bit too painful for me to watch for more than five minutes at a time.
I did watch Senator Elizabeth Dole's session with Rumsfeld though - it was brilliant, postive, uplifiting, and sought to right the wrongs percieved by all - without damning Rumsfeld or our military. What a champion and sweetheard that woman is! During her session with Rumsfeld, you could just see and even feel the (Democrap) snakes and worms crawling back in their holes and out of sight. It was the only time I saw all day when Rumsfeld's face brightened up.

I just watched the re-run on C-Span. I can't tell you how much I admire and respect our Sec.Def. I think Rumsfeld is the greatest man we've ever had in that job and I am proud he's the man taking care of our military. I am grateful that he is the man who leads those who stand between us and those who would kill us. I can't think of anyone better for the job.
