If the film is the same kind of splice and slash job that Bowling for Columbine was, Disney might have good reason to refuse distribution. That is to say, Disney wouldn't want to be party to an election year documentary about a sitting president if it was filled with lies.

"If this is partisan in any way it is partisan on the side of the poor and working people in this country who provide fodder for this war machine," he said.Nothing partisan about that, other than the fact that he's channeling Senator Evan Bayh.

Eisner has an out, and a way to also possibly save his career..hold a presser, announce that the movie is a turkey, a biger bomb than Gigli, and it malighns the president, and he won't waste the Disney shareholders money by pissing it away on a distibution deal for garbage like this...oh, yeah, watch the pigs flying outside...

Michael is too cheap to put his money where his mouth is. Let all his Hollywood friends, all the ones who gave him an undeserved Oscar, pool their monies and release it themselves.

They have also often performed well at the box office. His most recent movie, "Bowling for Columbine," took in about $22 million in North America for United Artists. What's that, about three weeks worth of revenue for "Passion Of The Christ"?
"Performing well", my sweet hind end.

There would be massive boycotts of Disney properties, and they know it.
With Eisner on shaky ground as it is, what would he get from it? It is not like it will make them so much money that he will silence his critics.

Disney does not want to be the focus of a movie that shows Bush vacationing at the Bin Laden compound as I have heard appears in the movie and other inflammatory scenes. Disney is in business and this movie would not be good for business - so some indie distributor will take it over and probably make a pretty penny. Now we have the aura of censorship to help sell Moor's tickets.

This is nothing but a huge publicity stunt by Disney with Eisner's favorite, the New York Times getting the "scoop" Plus Eisner gets to preempt any legitimate debate about whether Disney World should always keep it's semi-soverign status in Orlando, by saying that any attempt to have that debate is 'political payback' for this movie.
