Fine American traditions like Yodells, Ding Dongs, Snowballs, Twinkies, and Drakes Cakes are too fine to pass by Moore's gullet.

First they came for the Twinkies. But I did nothing, for they did not come for me. Then they came for the Ho Hos...

Hate to say it, but that's not true. $22 million is huge for a documentary. BTW, I use the term "documentary" with an asterisk here, since that word implies that what you see is a fact or true, and Moore is a brainless liar who wants nothing more than attention.

Anyway, I'm just saying that you can't really compare a documentary's gross to that of a regular film, since documentaries in general have little wide commercial appeal and are usually held to being played in only a few cities, as opposed to a massive, nation-wide release. "Bowling For Columbine", had a small release and extremely well in it.

And now I must add, I loathe Michael Moore. I never saw "Bowling For Columbine", and don't wish to see his spew. A few minutes of it was shown on TV once, and that alone disgusted me. But "Bowling For Columbine" DID do well at the box-office. Saying that says nothing of what I think about Michael Moore.

I wonder exactly what drudge means by 'forbids' distribution. Does Disney have the power to sh!tcan distribution in the US, or would they just be declining to be involved. No doubt SOMEONE will distribute it, if Disney doesn't have it all locked up.

Probably PR to hype the film. Hollyweirdos are cunning at creating buzz. Disney's contract with Moore gives them the right to distribute with conditions. An escape clause will allow Moore to go elsewhere. Disney may get a cut for its assistance in the hype scheme.

There would be massive boycotts of Disney properties, and they know it.
You are exactly right. Unfortunately, I gave up on Disney long ago, so I wouldln't be able to add to their pain. I'm just glad to know that they have felt the pain on previous occasions and know that they better watch what they do. I'd like to be able to give the major networks a huge dose of pain. I really resent it when they incorporate their anti-Bush sentiments into their plot lines. [Law and Order, etc.] All I can do is give up the last show that I watch on those networks.

Of course Michael Moore is seizing on this and saying that a corporation (being in the private sector of course) is violating his first ammendment right. This is typical of the left who think if corporations don't compromise THEIR right to support the propaganda they want to spew, they are somehow violating people like Moore's rights. Also Moore's non-sense about "the poor" fueling the "war machine" in this country is non-sense. The poor hardly pay taxes, because you can't tax money that isn't there. And I doubt Moore and his Hollywood buddies even know what it is like to be poor in this country. The middle class bears the brunt of taxes in this country and we are still forced to pay for social spending that is destroying the social fabric of our country and I might add spending, which Michael Moore wholeheartedly endorses.

Could be they took a bath on the "Alamo" turkey and don't want a repeat of that experience. Hollywierd may be waking up to just how out of touch it is with normal people

You might be right. There is NOT a lot of love between Eisner and Miramax, despite what Freepers might think. Another indicator of a change in attitude is that Disney announced that they were going to make the "Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" once it became clear that "The Passion" was a huge success.

At some point the question has to be asked, `Should this be happening in a free and open society where the monied interests essentially call the shots regarding the information that the public is allowed to see?

Well, Mr. Moore, when you go begging, hat in hand, for them to provide the money to produce and distribute the film, then they have every right to tell you they're not going to do it. If you're that sure of the commercial success of your film, fund its production and distribution yourself.

Very wise of Disney to put in the clause and very interesting regarding the tax incentives. Silly me, I thought that someone at Disney had actually grown a conscience.

Maybe they think that this will generate publicity and it'll all turn out like "The Passion". Nah, they couldn't be that dumb... Could they?

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow - and they will win." -Michael Moore -April 2004

Thank you, I had not heard he said that and had to look it up to verify.
What a fat ignorant bastard. Sounds like treason to me.
