Discussion Thread: Kerry's Appearance on GMA Regarding Medals
Good Morning America - ABC News
Posted on 04/26/2004 5:09:02 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
Let's see if I can kick this off.
During the promo at the beginning of the show, where he was standing by live in West Virginia, and throughout the interview itself, Kerry tried hard to keep this huge "what me worry?" smile plastered on his face. He coupled it with numerous condescending head shakes that seemed to imply "these poor benighted fools who so miserably misunderstand the greatness that is John Kerry."

I wonder who is handling this moron, he gets in it deeper with each step. I forget the name of the woman currently handling Kerry. Her first name, I think, was Hillary ...

Kerry turns this around on Bush and his guard service.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
that was rich,,he told Gibson that gibson did not see what Gibson said he saw. I think Kerry shot himself badly here.

Man, Kerry is pitiful. I have been around military folks all my life and he says that medals and ribbons are interchangeable in military references.
~"This is Republican smear and GWBcan't even prove he wen to guard duty and Republicans have no record to run on."~
WOW, he is pitiful.
And he was fighting Charlie when Charlie was trying to softball him.

Kerry can try to spin this any way he wants, but the bottom line is that he has been forced to totally get off message and be on the defensive.
I was at a Republican conference yesterday, and an RNC official said that one of the Bush campaign objectives is "always to be on the offensive, never to be answering questions."
This is a textbook example of a situation a candidate does NOT want to be in. Let's hope it continues to play out for several days, keeping Kerry off message.

Color me astonished that ABC held Kerry's feet to the fire on this one. The interviewer didn't let Lurch get the subject changed, although he tried.
Isn't it funny how Kerry attacks "republicans" while Bush-Cheney limit their criticism to Kerry himself and don't try to alienate large sections of the populace.

Kerry tried to spin this as a GOP smear. But it was good ol' Dem-friendly ABC News that has been running with this exclusive. Is ABC now part of the VRWC in Kerry's addled mind?

ABC/Charlie Gibson interview of Kerry regarding medals controversy:
Kerry giving a rambling non-response. Took ribbons off chest and threw them over the fence. Ribbons and medals, interchangeable.
They threw back DD-214's, dogtags, ribbons [but Kerry didn't throw his medals, only the ribbons, although they are interchangeable and the Republicans and GWB are the ones attacking, yada, yada, yada.]
Its GWB's fault.
Kerry interrupts Charlie Gibson's question. Says medals he threw were from 2 other men.
Gibson collars him on 'no distinction between ribbons and medals'. Says Kerry made the distinction, himself.
Kerry, There were millions watching on TV. It is Karen Hughes's fault. It is GWB's fault. GWB can't prove he showed up at the National Guard. [Kerry keeps trying to shellshuffling by attacking GWB.]
[Gibson is holding Kerry's feet to the fire.]
Kerry is rambling around an answer without giving a definitive answer. "There was a great wrenching about the whole thing." [huh?] They voted to throw. 'I didn't have my medals, so I threw my ribbons.'
[Talk about dipsydoodling. Now he's back attacking GWB.]
[Kerry didn't help himself by that ABC interview.]
Now on to important news---Michael Jackson fired his attorney.....

Great tag line. Perhaps the only time that the following line is true: "we're from the government and we're here to help you!"
To: Common Tator
Clinton was the same way. He told his lies so vividly, even he believed them.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Not being with any military experience I don't know what to make of his claim that ribbons and medals are viewed absolutely interchangeably.
Can somebody with knowlege of that topic, please address whether this was or is true?

Hi Peach. Kerry is not only scarey, he's crazy. Can't wait to hear Limbaugh on this....
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Important Note.......Kerry said he tossed the other guys' medals over sometime after he tossed his ribbons, for all to see. ........ You know that later when he is caught in his lie, he will be claiming it was the other guys' medals.
