Discussion Thread: Kerry's Appearance on GMA Regarding Medals
Good Morning America - ABC News
Posted on 04/26/2004 5:09:02 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
Let's see if I can kick this off.
During the promo at the beginning of the show, where he was standing by live in West Virginia, and throughout the interview itself, Kerry tried hard to keep this huge "what me worry?" smile plastered on his face. He coupled it with numerous condescending head shakes that seemed to imply "these poor benighted fools who so miserably misunderstand the greatness that is John Kerry."

The gist of Kerry's argument. "Medals" and "ribbons" are interchangeable, so Kerry wasn't lying when he told the interviewer back in '71 that he had given his "medals" back.
But when Gibson came up with quotes from Kerry in which he had clearly distinguished between medals and ribbons, Kerry just replied with bluster, raised W's National Guard record again, and said that this was all a GOP smear that he wasn't going to let them get away with.

damn,,he just said charlie gibson didn't see what charley says he himself saw thirty years ago. This is great. He is filibustering.

I thought he did himself great damage this morning.
He kept alluding to some conspiracy. He also said several times that President Bush couldn't even prove he completed his National Guard service. Most people watching will remember that the president even provided his dental records, for crying out loud.

Kerry doesn't have a mouth, he has a slit in his face where his lies comes out.
I have the interview on Tivo and am planning on transcribing it.

Since Kerry's appearance on Good Morning America is the talk of the day, I'm taking the liberty of pinging the Today Show ping list to this thread.

brings up karen huges,,etc,,VRWC. He is bringing up bush's national guard,,,hehe ,,he is painting himself into a corner. Now gibson pins him and Kerry laughs in that supercilious nasty way.

Kerry's Friday response

I would like someone to ask him if he thought Pat Tillman died for a just cause. It would be great to watch him melt down into a pool of "nuance" in front of the camera.

Kerry can't shut up; Gibson is being firm. I felt that Gibson tried but ultimately failed to control Kerry, and too often let him ramble on with his repeated allegations about W's National Guard record and of a GOP smear.
But at one point there was some delightful friction between the two when Kerry tried to tell Gibson he completely misunderstood what happened back at the medal-throwing incident in 1971 even though Gibson was personally there.
To: stocksthatgoup
It is all clear,,,he wanted to throw away his medals and keep them for show. Now I get it. I could not hate this man more.
