No-Carb Eating Couple Booted From Buffet for Eating Too Much Beef
Apr 23, 2004
The Associated Press
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A couple on a low-carb diet were kicked out of a buffet restaurant after the manager said they'd eaten too much roast beef. Sui Amaama, who along with his wife have been on the Atkins Diet for two weeks, was "It's so embarrassing actually," said Isabelle Leota, Amaama's wife. "We went in to have dinner, we were under the impression Chuck-A-Rama was an all-you-can-eat establishment."
Not so, said Jack Johanson, the restaurant chain's district manager.
"We've never claimed to be an all-you-can-eat establishment," said Johanson. "Our understanding is a buffet is just a style of eating."
The general manager who was carving the meat Tuesday became concerned about having enough for other patrons and asked Amaama to stop, Johanson said.
Offended, the couple asked for a refund. The manager refused and called police when they would not leave.
The couple said they have eaten at Chuck-A-Rama's $8.99 buffet at least twice a week, but did not plan to return.

The manager is acting like an idiot.
Two people simply could not clean out a buffet for the whole night.
There was a middle ground here and Mr. Beef missed it, greatly to the detriment of his business.
His restaurant should be named Overreactions R Us.

This s disgusting, refusing food to the parton's because they did not cook enough, and I hope these people see them in court.

The buffets here in CA are filled with people cows who are eating themselves to death.
Even too much meat isn't a real diet.

Wow. You can tell they've been on the Atkins way of eating for only a couple weeks - after awhile, regular or smaller portions of protein are more than enough to satisfy. Buffet or no buffet, 12 slices is a bit much!

The couple said they have eaten at Chuck-A-Rama's $8.99 buffet at least twice a week, but did not plan to return. for $8.99 they certainly got their $$$'s worth if he was up to his 12th slice of roast beef. Couldn't have been a really high quality beef at those prices.

50 years ago when I was in high school I used to go to a Rands Roundup in Glendale, CA at 10:00 every night and gorge on their prime rib and then stay until 2:00 when they changed to breakfast at midnight when I was trying to put on 20 pounds in 30 days so that I could play varsity football in my freshman year. Because of my age I had to weigh 200# to play varsity ball.
Never had a complaint about eating too much.
At the time I think the price was $1.75 for the buffet!

He should have placed that picture in front of the meat that would have stopoped their apetite.

Brilliant Idea, haul that picture out and everybody in the restaurant would lose their appetite.

I"m with you, they should sue,and I usually hate frivolous lawsuits. I think the couples choice of a response to the restaurant managers rudeness is sufficient.
The couple said they have eaten at Chuck-A-Rama's $8.99 buffet at least twice a week, but did not plan to return.
Tying up the court with something like this would be silly. If they want to go further they can spend a few weekends picketing. The restaurants owner will soon make amends especially if the couple garner more press coverage.
