"I am committed to preserving Florida's natural beauty
There is no ambiguity in my position on drilling off the coast of Florida." - President Bush, 4/23/04 |
Kerry Supports Offshore Drilling In Florida
Kerry Says He Favors Drilling Off The Coast Of Florida. "But Kerry said he would be in favor of drilling off the coast of Florida. 'I support oil drilling in the right places,' Kerry said. 'There is a capacity to protect what we have today - the protections for the coast of Florida - and still be able to drill in those locations where they're already permitting, already had the environmental impact study, they've already had the leases.'" (Dwayne Robinson, "Kerry Courts Florida with Conservation," The Independent Florida Alligator, 4/21/04)
Kerry's Handlers Rush To Contradict Him
"Kerry spokesman Mark Kornblau said the Massachusetts senator 'has consistently opposed drilling off the Florida coast. He opposes it today and will oppose it as President.'" (Brent Kallestad, "Gov. Bush and Kerry Squabble Over Offshore Drilling," The Associated Press, 4/22/04)
Florida Environmentalists Oppose Offshore Drilling
"'There are some environmental issues in Florida where you cannot waffle or equivocate,' said former Audubon Society President Clay Henderson, who was in the front row for Kerry's speech. 'There were some people who left the event wondering why the Everglades was never mentioned and confused on Kerry's statement on offshore oil drilling.'" (Craig Crawford, "Kerry Hits Bumps in Move to Middle of the Road," The Congressional Quarterly, 4/22/04)
Opposition to Offshore Drilling In Florida Crosses Party Lines
"The environment is a potent issue in Florida, where the sensitive coastline and the threat of development aggravates those on the left and the right of the ideological spectrum. More than 700,000 Florida voters are members of environmental organizations." (Craig Crawford, "Kerry Hits Bumps in Move to Middle of the Road," The Congressional Quarterly, 4/22/04)

'I support oil drilling in the right places,' Kerry said. Whew! Major policy decision there. Drill for oil where there is oil.

Jeb Bush is against offshore drilling in Florida.
There should be a policy that if your state is capable of producing energy, but doesn't, then they should be cut from domestic energy sources. That way, us Texans would be paying 40 cents a gallon for gas, while the idiots in Florida and Kalifornia pay $5/gallon.

The Flip-Flop Kerry Clock is now ticking...
This is SO much like his bullS&#% remarks about using the Great Lakes for "national interests" its amazing. Move a couple of words and BLAMO you have the same sorry song and dance.
Kornblow is the same Kerry flunky who flip-flopped for him in Michigan less than 24 hours after his Great Lakes blunder.

Isn't it amazing - in desolate, forbidding windswept places like ANWAR where nobody lives the Democrats are against drilling.
But off the coast of FL, a state that depends on tourism and beaches for much of it's income, they want to drill.
Go figure.

"Isn't it amazing - in desolate, forbidding windswept places like ANWAR where nobody lives the Democrats are against drilling."
According to James Hoffa, John Kerry has promised that they would drill in ANWAR and thet they could drill like never before.

I'm confused...
Is this the treasonous John Kerry who's running for President, or the John Kerry from "the alternate universe" where Mr. Spock has a beard?

"Kerry Says He Favors Drilling Off The Coast Of Florida." I'm starting to wonder if the guy has a few loose screws or something. Most people in Alaska (something like 80 or 90%) support drilling in ANWAR, and Kerry opposes that. But Alaska has only 3 electoral votes so you can oppose it and not hurt yourself.
Most people in Florida (something like 70-80%) oppose off-shore drilling for environmental and economic reasons (tourists wouldn't want to sit on a beach and look out at oil platforms) and Florida has what... 30 electorial votes?
Beside being a typical Rat leftie, is there something wrong with Kerry's mind? Did Hillery slip something in his Starbucks? Every time he opens his mouth lately, something really dumb flys out.

"I'm starting to wonder if the guy has a few loose screws or something."
I don't think its a case of having loose screws. He cares not an iota one way or the other about the drilling. Its a political ploy. Jeb Bush is against drilling, therefore he is for it thinking he can gain a segment of Florida voters.
The man is a rank opportunist. Like Clinton, he'll pull whatever political maneuvers he has to to win.

Ted Kennedy (the Pillsbury Dough Boy in Black) killed the windmill deal off Nantucket! The plan was ready to go, made economic sense but suddenly it was the Not in My Neighbor veto by the Dems.
A couple of weeks ago Kerry promised the AFL-CIO that he would support drilling in Anwar.
I believe our Country needs to become less dependent on forgien oil, through exploration in Alaska and conservation.
I can't imagine oil rigs operating off either Florida cost. I assume we would have to stay within US territorial waters, which I think is 3 Miles. Should provide a nice view from those Florida coast High Rise Condos and great dive-sites for the folks in the Keys.
The next campaign stop in Florida should be a doozie. Like to see how they receive his plan in Palm Beach County.
