Sorry for the vanity, but this is information I thought Freepers would like to hear about.
Apparently due to unresolved contractual disputes, the Los Angeles and Chicago affiliates of leftist Air America Radio have pulled the programming from their airwaves and returned to local programming.
I'm hearing this second hand, so if anyone has verifiable information or clarifications, please post them.

The contractual dispute is probably based on these liberal nuts thinking they should get the air time for free.

Hot-Air America's balloon already popped? ....even faster than I suspected it would.

I gave them 1.5yrs before capitulation. Looks like I grossly misjudged that one. Just like Brill's Content, Talk Magazine, and Salon.com, Air America Radio will last precisely as long as they serve the needs of the Democrat Party, and specifically Hillary Clinton.
What they're looking for in Air America is a "first media source" for various anti-Bush allegations that can be used against him during the campaign. "Reputable" media can't initiate the sort of wild allegations we're likely to see, but they can quote what others are saying.
It's subtle and effective.

Any confirmations on this?
What is really funny is that their ratings may spike from people tuning to see if they are off the air already.

The loonies at DU are claiming the reason it is off the air is "contractual problems".

I've worked in entertainment, including radio and contract law, for a long time. I suspect the 'contractual dispute' is a failure to deliver ratings anywhere close to what was promised. And it would have to be a very significant failure to invoke an "out" clause.

I think Chicago and LA were both markets where Air America displaced black programming, to the chagrin of the locals.

I have to check. I must admit this is sooner than I expected. I'll examine the thread.

Can't find anything in the news or by lurking at DU about this. They would be screaming like stuck pigs if it happened. Can anyone in LA or Chicago confirm?
They now have SF bay area stations lined up. Two big 1000 watters.

And Franken is such a terribly talented lad, too. What a shock. On my web site last week, I predicted that Air America would megaflop faster than Franken's hero Clinton can drop trou. Who'd thought this fast?
