I only listened to one of the ads (the first one--slow dial-up) but my biggest complaint is not with the quality of the voice, but rather the pacing. The woman reading the ad had the sort of haste in her voice that generally connotes dishonesty. While I'm aware the pacing was dictated by time constraints, it would be better to speak fewer words and have them come across better, than to speak more but sound like a used car dealer.

One thing that helped cut out a lot of noise for us was to buy a USB desktop microphone (Logitech). By being USB it bypasses alot of the junk in computers (especially laptops). Also -- a better program than the Sound Recorder in Windows is GoldWave (http://www.goldwave.com/release.html). It was able to record at much better resolution.
