Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread 5
CNN ^ | March 12, 2004

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.

"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

>>>As long as I've been on FR I haven't heard of a sister site in Canada......

Cibco is right about the FR sister site. I've heard about it as a legit back up site from the FR Network meetings.

Yep, but unconfirmed so far.

Don't want to get too excited yet, in light of how the original posts from Pakistan turned out.

A little more info:

ISLAMABAD, March 29: Taliban supreme leader Mulla Mohammad Omar was seriously wounded and four of his body guards killed in a U.S. bombing blitz in the middle of March, the Urdu-lanugage daily Ausaf reported today. Quoting Dr. Jabbar Aziz, the paper claimed the raid on the Taliban chief's hideout in the southern Zabul province resulted in serious injuries to Omar's legs and the left side of his body. He is now out of danger but would not be able to move for about two months, the paper quoted Dr. Aziz as saying, without explaining how and where the conversation took place. Yeah, but we can pray it's true - and nothing stopping us from collective thinking it is true.

I smell a fishy.

"...middle of March..."

"...He is now out of danger but would not be able to move for about two months..."

"...without explaining how and where the conversation took place."

OK, I got all excited when I first saw this come across, but since then, the above phrases seem more like "Bat Boy" reports than anything factually based.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that the lamp of liberty still burns ... that it still calls others to freedom. Prevent us, O God, from diminishing that light with our own selfish words and deeds ... help us, O God, to intensify that light, for You would not have the world in darkness. Cast Your light into the hearts of men ... reveal to us the evil within, that we would repent. May we truly be one nation, under God ... for only in You can we dwell in peace and safety. Look with favor upon us this night, I pray, in the Name of Jesus, Amen ...

In short, the interpretor of the day directs its adherents to murder and steal the property of anyone who is not a Muslim.

Myrddin, remember, there is no ultimate interpretor of Islam. Most Muslims in 3rd world countries are kept illiterate. There are also rules in place on who is allowed to interpret Arabic/Quran.

This is the weapon used by the enemy our people are spilling their blood for.

I understand that there are as many interpretations of the Koran as they are "authorized" interpreters. We are currently being terrorized by a collection of charismatic interpreters of the Koran who hate western culture. They have lots of money and are spread over many nations. The illiterate underlings follow their charismatic leaders.

There are probably millions of adherents of "Islam" who are completely ignorant of the militant activities of bin Laden and friends. I have associates at my various subcontractor offices that are concerned about "those crazy bastards". There are many educated, peaceful followers of Islam that are being put in harm's way by association.

Art Bell had a guest who suggested that we cultivate friendships with the "bad" Muslims who don't follow the Koran to the letter. For many, being a "Muslim" is more a cultural identity than the consequence of a fervent conversion brought about by study of the Koran. It is the fanatic "good" Muslims who take the Koran literally that are the source of trouble. The Taliban is an recent example of the latter group.

Blast rips through Uzbek market
CNN ^ | March 29, 2004 | AP

Posted on 03/29/2004 12:39:23 AM CST by yonif

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (AP) -- An explosion ripped through a market in the Uzbek capital Tashkent on Monday, killing at least two people, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported.

Russia's Echo of Moscow radio reported that the blast occurred in the Old City, near the entrance to a children's store. It said there were several people killed.

Officials at the Interior Ministry and Foreign Ministry in Tashkent refused comment.

A series of bombings in Tashkent in February 1999 were blamed on the terrorist group Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, which has been linked to the al Qaeda terror network.

It will be interesting to see who claims responsibility.
