Report from a group meeting with our Enemies
My husband and I did something that I never imagined we would do, we along with other military parents attended a Military Families Speak Out meeting. No, we haven't turned left wing but just took an opportunity that will probably never occur again.
An ad ran in our local paper that a Chapter for Military Families Speak Out was forming in our area. They invited all parents with concerns over the war to attend. We considered this an opportunity because we do have concerns over the war with children deployed even though we don't disagree with what our children are doing. We have concerns with what these families are doing to our troop moral and just what groups these families have aligned themselves with. This was the perfect opportunity to share our concerns face to face with those whose beliefs are far from our own.
Entering a building occupied by a Peace and Justice center is a surreal experience all in itself. You feel like you have just stepped into another world that doesn't quite fit. The bookshelves were lined with publications that on the surface look fine until you notice just what issues they are supporting. There was a table towards the back of the room prepared for the meeting. Along the wall behind the table were photographs displaying a photo journal of the local area anti-war protests. I brought photos of my own which were 8 X 10's of my three sons and a print out of a 3 star service banner all placed on a large poster. I placed the poster in the middle of the table for all to see and sat down with the rest of the families that came with me.
Everyone introduced themselves. The Peace group had family members that were either distant, related by marriage to a child, in ROTC, or non-deployed. Only one member had an active duty child in the service. Our group had one couple with three active duty sons two of which are deployed, a spouse of a deployed Marine, a Veteran with two sons deployed, a Veteran who just supports local families, and a politician that works with Veterans groups. I had been asked by several families with active duty children many of whom are deployed and could not attend to speak for them also. We had them outnumbered.
After introductions we outlined what our concerns were with their group starting a Chapter in our area. We listed as our reasons:
- The organizations that they associated with.
- We gave specific examples to extreme left wing groups that they are openly accepting help from in a coalition such as the CPUSA, Answer, International Action Center, and United for Peace and Justice.
- One of the above mentioned groups has publicly stated in print that they fully support the insurgency in Iraq.
- Supporting the insurgency would include the maiming and death of our beloved family members. Aligning themselves with such groups is in essence agreeing to have your own flesh and blood killed.
- Family members of Military Families Speak Out have been witnessed posting on Jihad friendly web sites denouncing our troops. This gives aid and comfort to our enemies.
- They are using parents with real fear for political gain in a misleading manner.
- Most of our troops believe in what they are doing.
- Who are we to tell grown people that they need to stop doing their job and come home?
- The Iraqi people are better off now than before the War.
- Armymarinedad stated very well how most of our troops believe in what they are doing. He has spoken with thousand of them while greeting flights that come home from the Middle East and has openly discussed with them how they feel about the war.
Our statements were followed by a discussion about both the Iraqi War and the Afghanistan War that lasted well over an hour. The discussion did not change anyone's mind. We did get the most vocal out of their group to admit that bringing our troops home now was impossible and would cause the senseless death of thousands of innocent people. After our long discussion it was up in the air exactly what the long term goals of their group would be. They never did get around to discussing long term goals and objectives for the beginning of a chapter.
Our group left after shaking hands with smiles on our faces yet rather flabbergasted that we never got into a shouting match or get kicked out.

You are fighting the war on one front while your children fight the war on the other. God bless your family. My family will never forget what your family has sacrificed in the name of our freedom.

''I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.''
This is the oath all who wear the uniform take. If they can raise their right hand and swear this oath the least we can do is take it in our hearts. They are busy fighting foreign enemies, we as conservative patriots must fight those domestic.

Hey, AMMom, you're just an ole rabble-rouser.
I've got one son AF overseas (not Iraq) and one son (Army) in the thick of it.
If I see these folks organizing in our area, then I'm gonna pull a Mom&Dad routine on them. Great Example!

The program which primarily comes from the classrooms at most Universities is to put the USA under the "World Community" auspices of the UN per Kucinich.
Of course, Kerry would never be that overt, but like slick willie, would do it inch by inch.
We are at war from within and also from the army of satan.

Ever try to change a three year olds mind?
armymarinedad, Good work! I'm sure the troops appreciate having someone there.

You done very good. I saw an event by this group on C-SPAN a few months ago, hosted by the horrible hard-leftist Maxine Waters, smiling and laughing as she and her fellow extremists undermined the country, endangered our troops, and promoted jack-booted thuggery. It was deeply disgusting, absurdly puerile, pathetically transparent, and palpably evil.

Where is this bringing the troops home being impossible or damaging coming from? We have Saddam now. We captured nearly all of the bad guys. We destroyed most of the weapons caches. THe military infrastructure is destroyed.
EVEN IF a new government wanted to threaten its neighbors it would take a DECADE with the destruction we inflicted.
What has happened is the WAR AIMS have changed -- now we have to send Americans to die for Iraqi and Arab "democracy"? Who signed off on that proposition? Congress didn't. Conservatives didn't. They all rallied because it was all about WMD and international security threats. International threat OVER. War...OVER. It is high time more folks start questioning why the WH is on the SAME SIDE as John Kerry (as revealed by Kerry's comments on tonight's Dem primary debate in LA). Bush and Kerry AGREE..That should scream that there is something wrong with this unholy alliance of Global Democratic Revolutionaries and International Socialist Revolutionaries.

Where is this bringing the troops home being impossible or damaging coming from? In response to your question 1. One of the things I have learned from our troops is there are more weapons caches in Iraq than eggs at a church Easter egg hunt. Saddam was obsessed with preparing his country for war. 2. The war aims have not changed. The war in Iraq is actually the battle of Iraq in the war on terror. 3. Iraq is not able at this time to maintain it's security on it's own. If we do not keep a presence there the insurgents, which are mostly "out of towners" with ties to UBL will move in and take over. This will give the terrorists a new country to train in. 4. The main goal of our efforts was not WMD but regime change. We have removed Saddam from power, and now we must help establish a new govt that is not a breeding ground for terrorists.

Thank you for what you did. I have family members deployed now and I despise these so-called "peace lovers". They are nothing but haters of America.
To: armymarinemom
This is great. It really sounds like some of the parents or relatives of our wonderful military care about the right thing by their children. Crossing my fingers that some heard you.

Your local commies are much more pleasant than my local commies, and mine aren't all that bad. Whatever you do, do not let up on these people. Hold them accountable, they are either giving aid and comfort or allying themselves with those who do.

One thing I have noticed about these groups while they go to and from local protests is that they have to talk themselves into believing they are right. You are absolutely right.
There was a guy talking about this (sort of) on O'Reilly last night. O'Reilly asked him how in the world someone like Michael Moore sells so many books, and the guy said that they need to have their worldview reinforced in the strongest terms, because it doesn't match up with the world around them very well. He also cited Limbaugh as an example of the same thing on the Right, but O'Reilly pointed out that unlike the Leftists, Rush doesn't tell people how to think and his perspectives (like them or not) are based on his view of facts, not the sort of hatred that Franken and Moore go from.
