Bush and I were Lieutenants (Fellow Pilot Comes to Bush's Defense)
The Washington Times Letters to the Editor ^ | 2-11-4 | Col. William Campenni (ret.)

'Bush and I were lieutenants'

George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

This whole reliving the 60's crap has really ticked me off

I love it and want it to keep going...

The more the Dumbocrats push it the more Kerry looks bad, and the more GW looks like he didn't do any of the obscene charges Terry McAwful spews. Did you notice how Kerry is trying to distance himself from this now that his anti-war ravings are coming into focus? And now the first of more pictures to come of he and Hanoi Jane... It just gets better and better.

Not 2000. So, I don't think that was a problem - AFAIK.
You may be right in that there is no primary for the Rep. side. If there had been, I would have only voted in one. Although it does provide some interesting scenarios to contemplate as to which primary would be more advantageous to our side to vote in.

But, we've digressed from the point a bit. I think it's unrealistic for the Dems or anyone else to draw any vast conclusions from a primary where 10% or less of the eligible voters actually voted. The was the first binding primary in Virginia in a looooong time. You would've thought the dems would have gotten out the vote better.

And no one has been paying attention to him for the last 9 months...seemingly not even the FreeRepublic...

Was this an issue outside the fringe prior to the last few weeks?

While I was on active duty, as Shipyard Duty Officer on weekends, I REGULARLY saw people in for weekend Reserve Duty.

They'd go find a desk. Run their assignment. I couldn't tell who they were (now) for anything.

How many came through? Couple hundred in five years.

Never had to tell the CO - It wasn't even really a even a "base access" list problem: They'ed already have an ID card to get on the Yard. All they needed from us was a place to work quietly for that day.

We all knew he would run away, problem for him is he is so full of himself he believes his rot gut bile.

After all he has gotten away with his bildge all these years. While I grow sick of what these 60's "gods" did and drug this nation through, they have indeed drawn a line in their "partiotic sand".

They said "BRING IT ON" so we shall see just how tough they are.

Thanks I needed your post.

Now watch the DNC go after this guy, his voting record (because he's obviously a Bush shill), and question HIS military record.

I was just thinking the same thing. "Watch. They'll investigate this guy."

Just a thought. I wonder if we should organize a VVAJFKerry event to coincide with Rolling Thunder, which is held in DC at the end of May. I am confident the vast majority of Vietnam vets, like myself, would be anti-Kerry. Great theater and great photo-ops.

The photo of Kerry backs up the following from Vietnam Vets Against Kerry which indicates that Kerry knew Jane Fonda and ran her organization.

"Realizing that running for public office in Eastern Massachusetts as a decorated Vietnam veteran was not at that time politically correct, Kerry moved hard to the left.

He attended a February 1971, VVAW conference bankrolled by Jane Fonda, the group's most prominent promoter. Over 125 self-proclaimed Vietnam veterans testified at a Detroit Howard Johnson's about wholesale rape, torture, and murder they claimed U.S. soldiers committed in Vietnam.

Kerry later said he found the accounts shocking and irrefutable.

Pictured right - VVAW supported demonstration at the Capitol, one of many that became known as the Washington Spring Offense.- April - May 1971." (NO PICTURE for caption PROVIDED BY FV).

See my tag line to get to the links. There's too much to post. The first link is chock full of sentiment and evidence against John Kerry.

Bush should have spoken to this earlier as it would have provided the context of his last few months.

No. This is much better than if Bush had written or said this sort of thing himself. It exposes this smear for the disgrace that it is, while Bush stays above the slinging. It shames those who have made the charge.

I dare you to write a post that doesn't criticize President Bush in some way. I don't think you can do it.

The best we can do is send it to our entire email lists and post it on every bulletin board to which we belong.

The major media doesn't easily provide balance on behalf of Pres. Bush.
