I thought O'Reilly did a good job making a fool out of the defense attorney who was going to bat for this idiot judge. At least he is willing to speak out on this. More than I can say for most TV pundits.
He also nailed the moronic woman arguing FOR partial birth abortions.

Speaking of guns...this scumbag definitely had his hand on one in his pocket, that video shows him reaching in his pocket, I guess to scare the death out of Carlie.

Whew!...just got through all these posts....
I have several reactions:
#1.. its not the death penalty that would solve this problem of felons having control over our streets.....its that they keep getting released again and again...ala Rodriques in Minnisota......people that attack other people in violent ways should have the stiffest punishment of all.....we can stand to let the cat killers and the pot smokers and the cigarrette smokers go free.....
But no, we have to drag the Rush Limbaughs thru the justice system to prove some big political point for the damn leftist prosecutor in Florida....wonder how many felons he has not prosecuted to the fullest just so he can make some political hay....
#2...we can all fool ourselves that if only we tell our children to not do this and not do that and blah and blah and blah for a million zillion years, but no one is safe, not child, not woman and not man, when we have these sociopathic criminals running around.....
perverts are managing to enter homes and steal or kill children right under their parents noses, they attack any and all, no matter how they dress or what they look like....male or female, young or old...
how dare we forsake our children to live in a world that the innocent have to live deprived of safety and freedom just so Joe Rapist can be "rehabilitated"...
we are making our childrens' lives so burdened with fear, and that is not right...
instead of thinking how we have to change every form of freedom we have to accomodate the felons, why don't we instead make the damn felons accomodate us?

Judge Rapkin was on tv. He's afraid FOR HIS FAMILY Too bad he wasn't afraid for someone elses family when he decided to forego putting Smith back in prison.

I wonder if maybe J. Smith had been watching her for some time. Maybe Smith did have a relationship with stepfather of her friend. Maybe Smith knew or was familiar with her short cuts to her home.
I started thinking the worst today. I started thinking that maybe Carlie was the type of 11 year old that smoked drugs. I don't know why.. Poor Child.. I guess because some do and it's out there.
I started thinking today that maybe Carlie was familiar with Smith and lured by him... Maybe Smith pulled grass out of his pocket and showed her that in the carwash parking lot... He showed her something that compelled her. Geez, I wish they would show close ups of their hands in that video.. She looked reluctant, but she did not put up a violent struggle to get away from him.
Sweet Carlie-- May Jesus wrap you tenderly in his loving arms.

A judge can direct a verdict of not guilty if a jury votes to convict, but that is rarely done. A judge can NEVER direct a verdict of guilty in a criminal jury trial. It's unheard of and unthinkable.
Just think about yourself being on trial and the jury finding you not guilty and the judge saying "Well, so what?I think that you are guilty anyway so you're going to jail." Not justice, is it?

Nah, she sounded like a really good kid, she was a Girl Scout.
That perv pulled a knife out of his pocket -- I've heard people on tv speculating that maybe he had a gun, but it seems more likely it was a knife, since that's what he used in one of the previous cases. He had something in that hand, no doubt a weapon of some sort. I've been trying to imagine what he was doing back there, it just seems likely that he might have spotted her going back there, then hurried back around to meet her coming the other way.
He probably didn't know she was so young though, since I heard her mother say she looked a few years older than her age.
To see that horrible man's face the last you leave this world. Poor little child.

I too, think he approached her and scolded her .."what are you doing here"....like he was a security guy...then just grabbed her wrist and pulled her along...
I'm sure what went thru her head was.."what's mom and dad going to say"....
she definately did not have body language as if she knew the guy....she definately was very hestitant....

Thanks for the clarification. I'm just trying to sort out which players can do what. I think it's probably fine the way it is.

this has probably been posted 800 times already, but...
he won't last 15 minutes in any condition except solitary confinement. death penalty would be mercy in his case.
i want to write a piece about how, despite the best efforts of dedicated law enforcement personnel, they are no substitute for an just populace exercising 2nd Ammendment rights.

The Fla DA said no deal was made thank God! Now here's hoping the guy he spilled the beans to is a guy who's been in custody for the last five days.

Maybe the only good thing to come out of this tragedy.
This video should prove very useful to any parent who wants to show how easy it is to be abducted.
I have only told my 5 y/o girl a few things relating to bad guys and abduction.
One main point is to do everything you can to get away, make a scene, crash the car..whatever it takes within the first moments of an attempted abduction.
Once you are no longer in a public place your chances of life diminish rapidly.
May God bless and keep Carlie and comfort her family and friends.
