Stick With President Bush In November (Good Reasons NOT To Stay At Home) (My Title)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 01/31/04 | Henry Lamb

The most serious threat to President Bush's second term is not a Democrat; it is the growing mass of disenchanted Republicans who are accepting the proposition that there is little or no difference between the two major parties.

"Where are they going to go?" says a well-placed Bush operative. "You know they'll never vote for Dean or Kerry. And there's no Ross Perot on the horizon."

Where will they go? Nowhere. And that's the point. Republicans, especially the more conservative variety, are likely to stay home in droves. So far, the Republican strategists appear to be oblivious to this possibility.

Perhaps conservative Republicans expected too much too soon from a Republican administration. The Democrats had eight years to fill the agencies of government with activists from their special-interest groups. It is true that President Bush quickly dumped the most egregious of these types, whose positions are political plums. The underlings hired by the political appointees, however, are protected by civil-service regulations and cannot be fired, or even reassigned, without non-political justification.

The disappointment of conservatives goes much deeper and questions the fundamental philosophy which guides the administration. After eight years of watching the Clinton-Gore team march the United States directly into the jaws of a global socialist government, Bush supporters expected a screeching halt and a major course correction.

Conservatives cheered Bush's withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol – a screeching halt and a major course correction – while socialists abroad and Democrats at home condemned the president.

When Bush defied the U.N. Security Council, and created a multi-national coalition to eliminate Saddam Hussein, conservatives split, some cheering the action, some joining the Democrats at home and socialists abroad who condemned the action.

The Patriot Act, the prescription drug program, the "guest worker" program, the so-called "free trade" programs and a half-trillion dollar deficit have left conservatives reeling, wondering why a Republican administration and Congress have produced results that look so much like what they would expect from a Democrat administration and Congress.

Consequently, many, many Republicans have thrown up their hands and have decided to either join some doomed third-party movement or simply stay home.

While this reaction may be understandable, it is not only self-defeating, it violates the first law of true believers: Never, never, never, never give up!

It is true that Republican hold the White House and a razor-thin majority in Congress. It is also true that the nation is divided, almost down the middle, between people who want to continue the Clinton-Gore path toward global socialist government and those who want to abandon that path and move the United States toward more individual freedom, free markets and voluntary cooperation among sovereign nations.

Rather than give up and stay at home, a better strategy may be for conservatives to realize that the election of President Bush in 2000, and securing a slim majority in Congress in 2002, is just the first step in a long journey. Conservatives should realize that it takes 60 senators to prevail over the Democrats' filibuster.

Rather than throw in the towel, conservatives might throw their effort into the campaigns of conservative candidates for the House and Senate, and for the state legislatures and county commissions.

The global socialist agenda moved into high gear after the fall of the Berlin Wall, aided dramatically by the progressive Democrats in the United States. The Bush election in 2000 disrupted that agenda, and to them, nothing is more important than removing the Bush obstacle. Conservatives who decide to give up and stay at home will be aiding and abetting the enemies of freedom.

A return to progressive Democrat leadership in the United States is a return to the Kyoto Protocol and U.N. control over energy use in the United States. It is a return to subservience to the United Nations – as Howard Dean says, to get "permission" from the U.N. before defending our nation. It is a return to total government control over land use, education and every other facet of life.

In 2000, conservatives barely got a foothold on the bridge of the ship of state. In 2002, conservatives began to get a grip on the wheel. In 2004, conservatives have an opportunity to bring on more hands and to permanently discharge some of the progressive Democrats who continue to fight desperately for control.

Democrats alone cannot regain control. If conservatives give up, throw in the towel and fail to show up for the November battle, the Democrats will win by default. Conservatives who truly believe that freedom is better than socialism, those who want freedom for their children rather than a world socialist government, will never, never, never, never give up. They will show up in November.

I don't believe he is pandering.

He has tried to bring a new tone to the town that has politics in it's blood.

He also recognizes that he is the President of all of the people. I don't think he thinks about Florida or the popular vote every day. I think he just realizes that he is President of the entire United States. Something that no Democrat every bothers to think about, IMHO.

If he has delivered more to the Dems than we think we have gotten, then we need to let him know that - by writing letters, and voting in true Conservatives to the House and Senate.

In fact, I firmly believe that we all need to do that, in every state. Get rid of Congress critters and Senators who have made a living out of being in DC, and go back to electing common sense folk, not lawyers. It's time we took back the Congress and were sure of the laws that are developed and passed. But we haven't done that, have we?

Everything else is just window dressing

You are delusional. It is the only thing that matters, because once your country is lost, you will never be able to reclaim it.

I don't believe those of us who are against open borders and unrestrained illegal immigration will win anything right now. But there is a time coming, and it is beyond 2004, when true conservatives are going to have to fight back and stop their ill fated love affair with political parties.

Neither party cares about the future of America. It is up to each one of us do whatever we have to to survive.

It took the Democrats 60 years to establish their global socialist agenda. We've barely controlled Congress for a decade and the White House in a fraction of the time. Undoing the work of the Left is not going to be accomplished in the time President Bush spends in office. Its going to take at least a generation, perhaps two or more. Those who love liberty mustn't throw in the towel but roll up their sleeves and look forward to the long fight against the Left. While its discouraging, it can be done. To quote Edmund Burke, all it takes for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Its time to recall why we're conservatives and although the work was not given to us to finish we are not free to desist from it either.

Exactly.

We need to vote in the November election as if our lives depended on the outcome, because with the WoT, they do!

If you truly believe that, I wonder why you stay in America at all.

I hardly think recalling every governor you don't like is a feasible solution. You can express your concerns to them without trying to threaten to take away their positions.

Why? I'm sick to death of all lying, traitorous politicians, that includes governors. And I'd vote to recall every politician who loves open borders if I could.

Neal Boortz said it best on Friday,

Vote for Bush and you get runaway government spending, but you also get a strong defense and an aggressive war against the Islamic terrorists who want to kill as many Americans as they can, on our own soil if possible, and to destroy the American way of life. Vote for a Democrat and you get the same runaway government spending, but as an added bonus you get the appeasement of our enemy, instead of its destruction. Vote for Bush and you get some appeals court judges who actually have an appreciation of our Constitution .. plus runaway spending. Vote for a Democrat and you get activists judges who will use judicial fiat to enact the leftist agenda ... plus runaway spending.

I understand the strong impulse to punish Bush for his free spending ways by withholding your support in November. The price for sitting on hands could be huge. It could be another terrorist attack on American soil, this time with tens of thousands dead. It could be higher spending, a bigger deficit, and a slowed economy brought on by higher taxes. It could be the end of a dream of Social Security reform ... and the list goes on.

And then ... there's always the hope that in a second Bush term he could actually start dancing with who brung him.

The support for Bush and his war on terror must remain in place, but a surge in votes for Libertarian candidates at the local level will send the clear message that a movement for freedom, economic liberty and limited government is underway.

**And I'd vote to recall every politician who loves open borders if I could.**

But you can't. What you should do is express your concerns to your local politicians: governor, congress members, etc. There will never be a politician who you agree with on everything. And by wishing that you could recall so many politicians, you will merely make yourself unhappy since it is not possible to do recall every politican you don't like.

Chris, I agree. This immigration thing is the absolute worst, and enough that I would not vote for Bush. It will, eventually destroy our country, and if you don't see it now, just wait. We will be answering to them soon. Legal or illegal, it doesn't matter a bit. Why are the laws of the United States not obeyed?

....It's Bush's fault you know! HE should do something! Geez

I'm not going to fall for that crap. I blame Bush only for his weak kneed position of massive illegal immigration.

If you knew anything about government, you'd know that California lost their vote to keep illegals from getting benefits because they had included some federal programs in their plan. The judge ruled in the illegals favor. Now some STATES, are working on plans that will pass in the courts.

You need to go back to kindergarten.

EXCELLENT ARTICLE. GOD BLESS YOU FOR POSTING IT! A lot of people around here need to be slapped upside the head, frankly!

Absolutely true! Look at what both parties are promising.!! Just get elected, that's the ticket! Who cares what happens to the country afterwards.

Unbelievable. I believe in upholding laws, and I see only 30 people in Congress who are prepared to fight to uphold our laws. Our president is not included in that list.

you truly believe that, I wonder why you stay in America at all.

And don't pull that old chesnut out of the fire and throw it at me. I have no intention of leaving this country until the illegals take over and they throw me out.

Your tag line is so true. Just go into any government agency or office and you realize very fast about being ruled versus being governed. I am an attorney and frequently must go to various offices etc etc. I know the ropes only to a degree, but the way some of the staff act towards the citizens is just appalling. Seeing the situation from the inside out is a lot different than the seeing it from the outside in. Trust me, it is worse from within.

Then the only thing I can suggest to you is that you talk to your congress members. Perhaps you could write a letter to the President if you wish, but I don't see that you're doing any good for yourself by worrying about illegal immigrants taking over the country.

Where the heck do you live????????? In NY you can barely tell the difference anymore, English is like a third language. You must not have hundreds of illegals sitting on street corners where you live. You must not have to compete with illegals for limited housing. You must not have to pay ridiculous taxes for the services illegals receive.

Well my kinfolk didn't want the British to take over America in 1776, so "they fought the bloody British" and ran them back to Charles and Diana's home. I have a picture of the grave stone of a relative who fought in the war. He rests on top of a mountain in western Kentucky, and he had the honor of being buried in a free America. I'd like the same. He was 15 when he joined up, and I think I owe his memory something.

I am not making myself unhappy. And I have written to my elected Reps; it takes time for things to work out. Anyhow, I've never been called a part of the silent majority in my life. And won't be.
