We should stick with President Bush in November, despite all his mistakes and shortcomings for the following reason Henry Lamb beautifully summarizes in the penultimate paragraph of his article on why the conservative base should be as passionate as its adversaries, the Leftist enemies of freedom and limited government:

"Conservatives who truly believe that freedom is better than socialism, those who want freedom for their children rather than a world socialist government, will never, never, never, never give up. They will show up in November."

The arrogance of this White House is amazing. Conservatives are the ONLY reason the GOP has the Senate right now. They act like that does not stand for anything. Like it or not folks, if Clinton did the same things W is doing we would all be screaming with the pitch forks. Ans that is the bottom line.

It took the Democrats 60 years to establish their global socialist agenda. We've barely controlled Congress for a decade and the White House in a fraction of the time. Undoing the work of the Left is not going to be accomplished in the time President Bush spends in office. Its going to take at least a generation, perhaps two or more. Those who love liberty mustn't throw in the towel but roll up their sleeves and look forward to the long fight against the Left. While its discouraging, it can be done. To quote Edmund Burke, all it takes for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Its time to recall why we're conservatives and although the work was not given to us to finish we are not free to desist from it either.

If the GOP controls the Congress, the Senate, and the White House, and is pushing a socialist agenda, then when it the wheel supposed to start turning back in our favor, when the Dems control it? Right now, the GOP is pushing us farther left than is acceptable and does not even try to fight for fiscal common sense that most people support. They are no different than the Dems when it comes to taxing and spending.

I don't agree with everything the White House is doing and I don't understand it. Still the fact remains this country won't be turned around on a dime. Its slow, hard work reducing the deficit and taming the monster called government. It took 60 years to build it up. Rome wasn't built in a day. Conservatives need to look past the Bush Administration and focus on a long-term strategy, the way the Democrats did when they ran this country. I'm not one of those who thinks we'll get to where we want to be in twenty years. I'm as patient as the Left when it comes to attaining one's objectives.

I don't like the drug bill, but I do like the incrementalism that is part of it. My children need the medical savings account part of it for their children. This bill is a small step toward reform. Dubya campaigned on this in 1999, so why are you suprised he kept his word?

I respect your comments in general, but the Bush Administration has accelerated the growth of government.

I agree with you on the3 idea, but disagree on the method. The left incrementally moved us to a socialistic society. I would expect that to move us away from that, little steps should bre taken to shrink the size, role, and scope of government, etc. We are not doing that, we are only continuiong the left's agenda with another party in power. I have no delusions about that, but this Medicare plan, immigration plan, refusal to cut spending, etc, is getting way out of control. And yes, Bush can lose this November if he continues this craziness.

I became a Republican because they were the anti-communist party. I will continue to be a Republican as long as it is the anti-terrorism party. While I beleive in the conservative agenda of lower taxes, pro-life, tough on crime etc., My sister almost died in WTC 1 because of the jihadis. I have felt the touch of terror, now it is their turn.

If Clinton had fought the war on terror with the same vigor as Bush, if Clinton had signed the partial birth abortion law, if Clinton had appointed conservative judges, if Clinton had Bush's character and honesty....

If given all these things, I might have voted for Clinton myself.

Agreed, it is better when they do absolutely nothing than this insanity. I would prefer to pay them their salary and let them never come to washington other than for a dinner or something. The more they do, the worse it gets.
