Stick With President Bush In November (Good Reasons NOT To Stay At Home) (My Title)

The most serious threat to President Bush's second term is not a Democrat; it is the growing mass of disenchanted Republicans who are accepting the proposition that there is little or no difference between the two major parties.
"Where are they going to go?" says a well-placed Bush operative. "You know they'll never vote for Dean or Kerry. And there's no Ross Perot on the horizon."
Where will they go? Nowhere. And that's the point. Republicans, especially the more conservative variety, are likely to stay home in droves. So far, the Republican strategists appear to be oblivious to this possibility.
Perhaps conservative Republicans expected too much too soon from a Republican administration. The Democrats had eight years to fill the agencies of government with activists from their special-interest groups. It is true that President Bush quickly dumped the most egregious of these types, whose positions are political plums. The underlings hired by the political appointees, however, are protected by civil-service regulations and cannot be fired, or even reassigned, without non-political justification.
The disappointment of conservatives goes much deeper and questions the fundamental philosophy which guides the administration. After eight years of watching the Clinton-Gore team march the United States directly into the jaws of a global socialist government, Bush supporters expected a screeching halt and a major course correction.
Conservatives cheered Bush's withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol a screeching halt and a major course correction while socialists abroad and Democrats at home condemned the president.
When Bush defied the U.N. Security Council, and created a multi-national coalition to eliminate Saddam Hussein, conservatives split, some cheering the action, some joining the Democrats at home and socialists abroad who condemned the action.
The Patriot Act, the prescription drug program, the "guest worker" program, the so-called "free trade" programs and a half-trillion dollar deficit have left conservatives reeling, wondering why a Republican administration and Congress have produced results that look so much like what they would expect from a Democrat administration and Congress.
Consequently, many, many Republicans have thrown up their hands and have decided to either join some doomed third-party movement or simply stay home.
While this reaction may be understandable, it is not only self-defeating, it violates the first law of true believers: Never, never, never, never give up!
It is true that Republican hold the White House and a razor-thin majority in Congress. It is also true that the nation is divided, almost down the middle, between people who want to continue the Clinton-Gore path toward global socialist government and those who want to abandon that path and move the United States toward more individual freedom, free markets and voluntary cooperation among sovereign nations.
Rather than give up and stay at home, a better strategy may be for conservatives to realize that the election of President Bush in 2000, and securing a slim majority in Congress in 2002, is just the first step in a long journey. Conservatives should realize that it takes 60 senators to prevail over the Democrats' filibuster.
Rather than throw in the towel, conservatives might throw their effort into the campaigns of conservative candidates for the House and Senate, and for the state legislatures and county commissions.
The global socialist agenda moved into high gear after the fall of the Berlin Wall, aided dramatically by the progressive Democrats in the United States. The Bush election in 2000 disrupted that agenda, and to them, nothing is more important than removing the Bush obstacle. Conservatives who decide to give up and stay at home will be aiding and abetting the enemies of freedom.
A return to progressive Democrat leadership in the United States is a return to the Kyoto Protocol and U.N. control over energy use in the United States. It is a return to subservience to the United Nations as Howard Dean says, to get "permission" from the U.N. before defending our nation. It is a return to total government control over land use, education and every other facet of life.
In 2000, conservatives barely got a foothold on the bridge of the ship of state. In 2002, conservatives began to get a grip on the wheel. In 2004, conservatives have an opportunity to bring on more hands and to permanently discharge some of the progressive Democrats who continue to fight desperately for control.
Democrats alone cannot regain control. If conservatives give up, throw in the towel and fail to show up for the November battle, the Democrats will win by default. Conservatives who truly believe that freedom is better than socialism, those who want freedom for their children rather than a world socialist government, will never, never, never, never give up. They will show up in November.

Man...the volks at DU must love reading posts like this. Sigmund Freud please call your office.
The people saying they are not going to vote for Bush this election, probably would never vote for Bush in the first place.
I voted for GWB 4 times: twice for Governor, once in the primary, and once for the general election.
Sorry KotT. not again.
I say, "Good riddence."
So long !

You are so correct that this election will be the most important with respect to Supreme Court judges. If we keep GWB can we really expect that he will do better than his father? Souter has been a disaster. I think some of the liberal judges did not quit because they want a Dem in the WH when they retire. Wouldn't it be something that in GWB's trashing of the Constitution we get judges that will further the damage. If GWB only stood tall and strong and was a true Conservative, at least when he loses we can't say he didn't try.

No where.
If Democrats should seize sufficient power, the United States will be destroyed. It's that simple.

I understand why you feel that way and if it was any other election but this one, it wouldn't matter that much. But I honestly believe this is our LAST CHANCE! If a lib gets in the white house this time, we'll never have another chance. Can't everyone put their anger aside. In 4 years we can all work to try to get a more conservative pres elected but if we let a lib in this time I think that will be it. No more chances.

The socialists never gave up and they never will. Slowly but surely, bit by bit they built up their agenda and took over not only the government, but the psyche of the American people (nay, the entire world!). This is what conservatives are fighting against:
Half of the people support socialism fully, and 75% support it in some form.
This is reflected in your congressional representatives as well. Half of the Senate supports socialism fully, and because of RINOs even more support it in some form.
But the socialists have suffered a few defeats, and losing the majority in Congress is one of them. Losing the opportunity to direct foreign policy is another. Have they given up? NO! They never give up, they just fight harder. Winning the presidency would be a MAJOR victory for them.
Honestly, I don't think they're trying to win it now. The hardcore socialists are waiting for their fuhrer and his evil mistress to make some kind of return in 2008. In the meantime, they are focused on the Congress. This is where the conservative focus should be as well. Because the Republicans are barely hanging on in Congress, and true conservatives don't have any kind of majority there.
Instead, some are seriously thinking of taking out the President.
For those who wonder why Bush doesn't seem to be listening to the conservative base, please remember a few things:
1. He barely won in 2000, and didn't get the popular vote. If this country truly were a democracy and not a constitutional republic, Bush would not be president, Gore would be president. Did Bush pull out the win because of the conservative base? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe he pulled it out because the socialists messed up and took out one of their own, just as conservatives are plotting now.
2. He also had a difficult time in the primary in 2000, but it wasn't because of a conservative challenge. It was because of John McCain. Yet many wonder why Bush seems to be pandering to the left. I think a primary challenge would be good for him this year, but this time it has to be from a conservative. Unfortunately, I don't know if the conservative base can handle losing the primary. If they were to have a true primary challenge and lose, would they take their ball home and not vote at all in the general election? How politically savvy are they?

That is the darn point. No one is taking anything from anyone!!! We are talking about adding more entitlements to an already bankrupt system for many people who can afford their fix. As far as my toys and programs, you really lose me. I am on no welfare programs, do not work for the governement on any level, operate my own business, and live a very modest life. This stuff about paying fair share is all relative. Many people today are paying a FAR greater proportion of their income to taxes than these people ever did. I am talking about real estate taxes, surcharges, excise taxes, gas and energy taxes, etc. The overall burden is overwhelming for younger and middle age people and now is not the time to add the problem by giving out entitlelments that will only make the situation worse.

The Democrats are so bad, that, in comparison, whatever faults George Bush may have pale into insignificance. He must be re-elected.

Our kids future depends on it! I have kids too. And the future I see for them is one of being pushed out of own their country by GW's amnesty plan and open borders policy.
If Bush doesn't change his mind and close down the borders, five years from now we and our children will be aliens in our own land. Our social services destroyed, our schools overrun, our politicians will be Hispanic and as loving and caring as Al Sharpton. And the worse thing will be that our votes to get good people in office will mean nothing, because the voting system will be trashed, more than it is now.

We have about nine months until the election. Based on this thread will this be the main topic of discussion until then? It seems that one side of the table believes that GWB has let us down, (I believe there is no disagreement here) and the other side believes that he is better that the alternative any day no matter what. The problem here, as I see it, is that it gives too much power to those who wish to do harm to the Nation, the Constitution, the culture, the rule of law, and to our freedom. I believe we need to at least agree that GWB is indeed flawed and that he does have time to reverse course and begin to do the dance that Conservatives do when they indeed want conservatives to vote for them. Invoking the word of God and the name of Jesus isn't enough for me to vote for a man who has systematically acted anti-constitutional in many of his actions.

I know what you are saying. I feel the same frustration. But have you saw the Dems agenda as far as immigration? Far worse than Bushes. I feel we are in a terrible pickle with no way out.

This election charade in the US is becoming so blatantly obvious that a mentally challenged paramecium can see through it. The globalist money flows down through all levels of the party and buys each and every election. If you do what you are told, you get the funding. If you don't do what you are told, then the money goes to a competitor who will do what they are told. Without the money, no campaign can get off the ground. We have a President George and, a President George W. The hustlers are priming for a future President Jeb, and I heard one clown pushing that baby Bush who spoke at the convention. The Demos spell it Kennedy and the Repos spell it Bush. On the bottom line, they are simply royal families perched atop the two major political financial food chains like Mafia Dons exchanging political favors for enormous financial contributions. They let the paramecium fight over abortion, gay rights, minority privilege and other such "hate" issues, but the money issues are all decided by the global money machines that issue the bribes - er, ah - contributions.
To: Final Authority
The problem as many see it is that most of us know that W probably knows everything we are saying, and might on some level agree with us, but is pandering and acting like the politicians we despise and hoped he would not be. But in the end, he is a typical politician, and we must deal with that fact as reality. I have not decided what to do in November. But if W continues this garbage for another nine months, I can't see how anyone in good conscience can say that our kids will depend on him getting re-elected.

To reply 130, you can say this until you are blue in the face, and it will be a cold day in November when I vote for a candidate who has disregarded his oath of office, but in NH, it has to be below zero to be that cold. I think McCauliffe will get his wish, unfortunately.

The two Bush mistakes that have the greatest chance of permanently destroying the Republic would be CFR and the amnesty proposal.
CFR is more a reflection of the state of the Congressional representatives and the Supreme Court. Ultimately it is a reflection of the state of the American people. Bush was ideologically against CFR but foolishly signed it. There is nothing that can be done except to repeal it in Congress or challenge it with a more conservative Supreme Court. Having a Democrat president would not have prevented CFR, for those of you proposing gridlock.
The amnesty proposal is just that, a proposal....for now. How to fight the scourge of illegal immigration? AGAIN, in the Congress. Congress is also the key to getting more conservative judges.
To: mathluv
CFR - increases hard money At the expense of the 1st Amendment. Glad to see you're OK with the shredding of the Constitution...
No Child Left Behind - holds schools/teachers accountable for teaching
Yet different states can have different "standards." Anything Fat Teddy is for is bad for the country.
Medicare expansion - reform built in - medical savings accounts
PROPOSED pilot reform programs "built-in" for POSSIBLE future savings but guarenteed costs today. Not a bet I'm interested in taking...
Wetback amnesty - Dubya campaigned on this
So that makes it a good idea? Pols break their promises all the time, why not on this issue especially in light of 9/11?
