Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative?
We need to show the president that he can't take advantage of his conservative base.

Time will prove the wisdom of the Bush policy.
The reality is the illegals are here, and have been for years. Many are the guests of Americans like you.
What Bush needs is political cover to nail those illegals to the wall who will not officially reveal their existence and play by the rules.
By giving them a fair chance to provide the best of their presence, the willingness to work at entry-level jobs that Americans shun, and removing the worst, which is their unregistered and illegal status, Bush is once again achieving the heroic and legendary.
Freepers will embrace this policy with time.
I'll be patient in my counter-criticism because I believe emotions and not common sense are guiding the initial reaction.

"we know who they are and where they are.".. by what means? After 3 years, how will they be repatrioted? ..Their repatriotion will not be able to be enforced as politicians say that illegals can't 'deported' now..are they to return of their own volition?

My husband and I have been foster parents for over 30 years. We know first hand how the illegals can take over a entire system. It is NOT RIGHT.......plain ol not right!!!

There you go. You were a moment ago going to throw your vote away to a group you supposedly knew nothing at all about. Maybe your understanding of President Bush's plan to end the illegal immigration problem and your understanding of his motivation for it are as equally flawed as your understanding of what the Libertarian Party stands for.

Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative? This is about "hemispheric integration", immigration is just one aspect of it. The FTAA is what needs to be stopped. If the FTAA goes through America is done.

NOT give them amnesty but documenting them in effect (putting them on guest visa programs) is documenting.
--Kind of like H1B and L1 visa`s ? That worked out real well for the Tech Industry !! What, 500,000 people lost their high paying jobs !!! Great !! Lets do it again !!
Dangerous or criminals go home. I think this has to be enforced more at the state level. -- If they would allow the states to do it. Great, I am for it. But I don`t think this is in the Bush proposal.
it is up to us to elect more conservative judges who will enforce CURRENT Laws. -- Great again ,if we could elect Federal Judges. Which we cannot at this time.
INS is responsible for enforcing immigration and arent they trying to send back thousands of illegals who try to come here. -- So far, under the Bush administration, he has done a bang up job here !! ( sarcasm ). Tell me, this new proposal does what to stop the illegals from coming into this country?
As Bush himself said, congress has to write the legislation for this --Pres. Bush could seal our borders with a Presidential order ! He won`t and never will.

Exactly Right! My major problem with this new and disastrous plan of President Bush is that NO attempt is being made (at least it has not been officially discussed) to stem the tide of illegals into this country. I could support a documentation program if the borders where sealed. Failing that, as Bill O'Reilly said this evening, "If I'm in Peru and hear about this, I'm heading north tomorrow." While I don't agree with Bill much lately, he is correct in this regard. Announcing such a plan, without securing our borders, will result in a tidal wave of illegals coming into our country.

If the US Army can hold that country down (among others), why can't we use all resources of government here at home to keep our own country secure?

Well, I don't know if Bush deserves all the blame for the liberal judges who rule by judicial fiat, bypassing both the constitution and the will of the People in the process...
But I didn't notice him taking the initiative to make a few common-sense Federal Judicial appointments over the Commiecrat fillibuster during the recent Congressional recess... did you?
Nor have I seen him do much to bust said fillibuster, what with the "new tone" and "kinder and gentler" and all that blather. Just bend over and grab the ankles, every time Tommy Daschle, Hillary or Teddy K. wander by.
I've been trying to defend our President against all of my liberal friends (and yes, I do have a few) assertions that he is a "dummy" and an "idiot" for these past 3 years or so...
but now I'm beginning to wonder if they might have been on to something.
GWB has been so brilliant in his forign policy and prosecution of the War on Terrorism - how can he turn around and be such a drooler on domestic issues?
I don't get it. I really don't.
