Backing Dean guarantees a Bush victory (must read)

I want Howard Dean to be the Democratic nominee for President despite the fact that his intellect is the size of a single in the Foster-Walker Complex.
If he gets the nomination, George W. Bush is going to launch a major can of whoop-ass, the likes of which have never been seen before in any election. It will make the 99 percent landslide "victories" of dictators around the world look like closely fought contests.
Many ask why I have a dog in this fight. After all I'm a Pakistani with no interest in the debates over Medicare and school vouchers. I'd rather go to class than read about campaign finance reform.
To put it simply, American politics bore me.
I do, however, care deeply about my country. At the risk of sounding like a peace activist -- which I most certainly am not, at least not in the NOWAR tradition -- I also care about the freedom and well-being of the global community. And right now, Dubya is the only person capable of doing that.
Ideally, Muslims wouldn't need Bush to do their dirty work for them. They would repudiate all forms of terrorism, reform their own dirty political systems and realize that women should be treated as human beings, not cattle. But since they're not up to the task Bush is the next best alternative.
In the last 28 months he has managed to bomb Afghanistan into modernity and rid them of the Taliban, who subscribed to the "women-as-cattle" philosophy mentioned above. He has also managed to free the Iraqis from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, who came up with the novel idea of mass murder as a solution to overpopulation. He got the spineless President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan to develop a backbone and renounce his previous support for terrorism.
Howard Dean, showing himself to be the moral vacuum he undoubtedly is, said "I suppose it's a good thing" upon hearing of Saddam's forced removal. This is why he does not have a chance in hell against Bush. The American people must realize the importance of freedom and not give Dean the chance to fiddle while the Muslim world burns.
I feel like puking with disgust whenever I see a "no war" sign painted on The Rock. Liberals need to realize it is only at gunpoint that extremist Muslims will learn that anti-Semitism is not a lifestyle choice, and suicide bombings will not result in a Palestinian state. You control mass murderers with war, not resolutions and court orders.
When I visited my ancestral homeland of Afghanistan last year, I felt safe in the knowledge that I would not be incarcerated for being a beardless, non-praying, T-shirt-and-jean-wearing individual. That freedom was exhilarating. It was a freedom no one in the country enjoyed until Bush came dashing in like the Texas sheriff he is so often portrayed as being.
Which is why I urge College Republicans -- all five of them -- to rally behind Dean during the primary season.
And then come November and Bush's landslide victory, I will feel safer and freer.

Psst... the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is an artifical colonial border created by the British for the purpose of politically dividing the indigenous peoples... as others have mentioned, there is nothing inconsistent with being a Pakistani with Afghan roots.

Good at least you have some fun. Instead of spending all of your time crying over socialism.

Actually, I drink to lament the loss of the Old Republic, but to me, that passes for fun in an ugly time.

The main correction would be that Bush didn't "bomb Afghanistan" rather he "bombed Taliban & Al-Qaeda positions in Afghanistan." (Similarly for Iraq.)

Give me a break! The guys not a political geek like most people in this country.
I am also assuming that going back home when his schooling is done(Now on this I could very well be wrong), so why would he have any interest in medicare. Also lets remember he's a sophomore, any sophomore who is "concerned" about Medicare, school vouchers, or CFR really needs to get a life.

I am sure there is a reasonable explanation, but he put his name to a sloppy column where he says he does not care about socialism at home, claims he is a Pakistani who visited his ancestral homelands in Afghanistan, and then refers to 'his country' rather ambiguously, though I see many just assumed he meant the United States...me? not so sure... Your 'multinational phony' complaint is cheap and completely without merit. As for "his country", I thought it was fairly clear that he meant Pakistan, and that he is only interested in American foreign policy -- why should he be any more concerned about our domestic spending than, say, I am about Italy's?

Does it give you a thrill to boast that you have the solution to everything, knowing that there is not a prayer's chance in a Massachusetts courtroom that those solutions will ever be tested in the real world? Do you think it gives you some sort of moral superiority to assume an iconoclastic position and hurl criticism down on the mere mortals below?
Unless you have some magic power to change the equation, your choice for President in November 2004 will be Bush or the Democrat nominee or "none of the above". You might as well come to terms.

John:
First off, the author is just making a foray into politics and, unlike you, he realizes that we can not isolate ourselves in this world.
Second of all, do you really think that what Bush is doing is moving us towards "socialism"? I mean, I wasn't happy about the prescription drug plan either but at least he hasn't proposed some idiotic national health care like all the Dem candidates and he believes in moving towards a more free market approach to the two spending albatross' around the government's neck (Social Security and Medicare). That he hasn't succeeded as yet doesn't mean that isn't where his heart is.
Bush is a little too nice and a little too desirious to show he gets things done for my taste but he is no socialist.

It's made it for over 200 years now. Bet it keeps going. Even if that tax and spend liberal Bush gets another four years.

You are too kind.
No, I stole all my answers on foreign policy from George Washington. He was my country's first President and when he finished his second term, he gave the single most important speech in the history of self-government. I realize its pretty obscure these days, but it is called the Farewell Address.
Perhaps between commenting on the 'liberal media' and defending socialist fellow travelers, you can find the time to read it and, I realize this might be tough, but try to understand American patriots tend to be very humbled by one of the great political men in the history of the world.

Bush is a good moral man, unlike the cad who pre-dated his term.
However, Bush did not propose, though he delivered a key piece of the Hillarycare package. If he is not a socialist, I am not sure what definition you are using.
