Since its inception, Free Republic has been the world's premeire online gathering place for the discussion of the news, issues, opinions, and just about everything else.
There have been several times when the members of Free Republic have posted important breaking news stories first, scooping the outlets of the mainstream media.
Some exemplary threads merit mention in what I'd like to call the Free Republic Hall of Fame Threads.
I believe this is a good way to remember and share some of the most important discussions that have occured on Free Republic.
TOPICS: Free Republic; Miscellaneous; Unclassified; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: archive; cheese; fame; free; freerepublic; fun; funny; greatthreads; hall; halloffame; history; hof; memories; memory; moose; opus; republic; tinfoilhat; zot

I found the wall link on FR's home page, at the end of the page.

The funniest, most creative thread I ever was a part of was the FR interactive novel about Hillary's college days:

Here's a thread that I started on election night 2000. It was the first hint that all the projections that Bush would now win Florida (and the election) were premature, and that we were in for some interesting times:

But the "Pres. Bush is eating in an undisclosed location" thread really needed to be deep-sixed for the duration of the news blackout, because the Freeper who posted it claimed here on Thanksgiving eve that he was at the Baghdad airport and had heard that a VIP was coming for their dinner tomorrow. He said he thought it was going to be Bill Clinton. Anyone who looked at his posting history could have put 2 and 2 together.
The more I think about it the less I like what the poster did.

I wish someone could find the 'can anyone else look at the sun and see anything' thread.

How about the Elian Gonzalez raid? I don't have the thread bookmarked. That has to be one of the best I've ever read.

I kind of thought the thread where I broke the "official" unveiling of the much overhyped "IT" ("Ginger", now known as a Segway) was noteworthy, and somewhat humorous:
"IT" Revealed - (Ginger)

I can't remember the titles/links , but two stand out:
one where the title was something like "call the fbi!, need something translated"
and the other was a mike tyson fight where because it was on PPV, he couldn't post screenshots, but *sketched* the scenes and posted them!
If anybody has those links, it would make my Friday night!
