I must be a bit less jaded than you. I didn't find anything particularly horrible about the language or the way the subject was presented, and I was glad Arthur informed us in clear though not obscene language about some of the atrocities taking place. I'm appalled but not in the least surprised.

I agree. A lot of people have never heard of this stuff- thanks to the Establishment Press's self-censorship or silence about it.

We need to know these things.

There are three topics covered in this conclusion.

What - no discussion, just a conclusion?

Is there - was there an accompanying, preceeding piece to this puzzle I'm missing?

God has one foot out the door,

This is a premise I cannot buy. I can fathom it, but I do not see indications of it.

The shift has been slow and incremental. You've doubtless heard the metaphor of the frog in the boiling water: the water heats gradually, and frog eventually boils to death. Charles Darwin himself, writing in a letter to his friend Charles Lyell, understood that direct frontal attacks on Christianity left no lasting effect, but the subtle, silent side attacks - denying first the flood, and then divine Creation, would produce real "good" over a long period of time.

Many of the evils we lament today, of which the Massachussettes ruling is only the latest, can be properly adduced to the shift away from man as a Divinely created being to man as an animal.

Plato's Republic has been a favorite utopian model for liberals over the ages, yet in that work Plato demanded that men be keenly aware of their accountability for earthly actions before God. Lacking this component, "Republics" like the former U.S.S.R, China, and smaller communist dicatorships have not produced liberty and happiness, but slavery and misery. Plato rightly doubted that his Republic would ever materialize on earth.

And to the extent that we collectively legislate God out of the public square, we deny any activity at all and will find ourselves enslaved and miserable.

Arthur: Thanks for having the courage and moral fortitude to bring these unpleasant realities into the halls of free public discourse. These are not only worthy topics, but mandatory.

All you have penned, however, does not have God one foot out the door, but rather being ushered out the door.

There is a fine difference; WHAT was written previously had it worded as if God was exiting of his own accord - THIS is what I meant when I said "I don't see any sign of this."

One would have to be deviod of his very senses to see that God is being ushered slowly but surely from any prescence, sign or indication in our daily lives.

DO you get the finer difference I just pointed out?

The conversion of Russia/the USSR was prominent on the Catholic's list of things to pray for during that period we now call "The Cold War", and, I would say, the result that was achieved, it's eventual dissolution. You *are* aware of this period in time and the prayers which were offered up for this to come about aren't you?

(Do you remember the visit by The Pope to Gen. Jaruzelski of Poland - and the communist general literally trembling on camera?)

That is a fine distinction you make. One ("ushered") describes a cause and the other ("has" one foot out the door), a state.

I draw what little knowledge I have about the Divine nature from the Bible. In the Old Testament, God routinely used one nation to chastize another, esp. prophesied in the minor prophets. There's no reason to assume God's character has changed over time ("For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." Mal. 3:6), though the age of Divine revelation has passed with the completion of Holy Scripture.

Will God turn His back on us entirely? I don't know, but it certainly will not be well for us if He does. We do know know this from Scripture: He will always have His elect people in every nation, no matter how apostate the government and culture ("No one can snatch them from my hand"). For the Christian, this is a source of unspeakable comfort.

I don't think so.

He gave his only begotten son once, remember?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
With that kind of love, I don't think that's in the plans.

A well known bible beater, and I were talking about God's relation to people, and he was saying, we have moved away from God. A Couple were driving along a nice tree lined lane, all by themselves, and the woman said/" Do you remember when we first started dating, and we would drive and we would be so close together, you could not get a cigarette paper between us>"" The Mans said " I haven't moved"
This is the way it is with God he is still in the same place as always, we may have moved away but he is still the same, and waiting for us to come back to where we belong.
We are on this earth for a purpose and it is up to you to find out what that purpose is///
