A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecutions key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecutions star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.
Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.
But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.
For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

that the blood on his shirt was "smears" and plainly visible to the naked eyeI don't think that was the testimony; how about a link to that.
I say bleeding that results in smears is more than normal bleeding.
Well, that is what you say; but that's not what the testimony has been; not one person said "so much blood."

And Kobe, the DEVOTED husband and father. Took him all of fifteen minutes to decide his marriage vows were meaningless. What character, integrity, and loyalty to the woman he loves.

WHY is this a crime where the victim has to prove innocence. Because Kobe, like OJ, like Mike Tyson, and like Bill Clinton have a cult following. The victims don't matter to the unwashed masses, only their star.

If I were Bryant, the DA in this case would be looking at the mother of all lawsuits.

"A woman who has been raped less than 24 hours prior would not have consensual sex with another man. Or are you suggesting otherwise?"
I'm suggesting that I can only speak for myself not every woman.

that the blood on his shirt was "smears" and plainly visible to the naked eye. Are you sure of that, because, and I could be wrong, I thought the lab found the blood.

"Almost all of the evidence introduced at the preliminary hearing permits multiple inferences which, when viewed either independently or collectively, and upon reasonable inference, do not support a finding of probable cause."
The judge could not have made it any clearer had he looked at the D.A. and said "Good luck, son--there's no way you're getting a conviction here."
To: Strider
Wake up people! You might as well save it.
If we were to discover that the alledged victim had gotten her freak on with the policeman during her interview there would still be those here saying it doesnt matter.
Too many people here DESPERATLY WANT Kobe Bryant to be guilty, because they dont like that he slept with someone other than his wife. There is a punishment aspect to this that they dont want to admit. They are going to hang on to it long after Kobe is aquitted, blaming his lawyer for "smearing the girl".
The case is falling apart, and a lot of people just dont want to accept that they could be so wrong.

Unfair to bring personal prejudices into a case.
Rape is serious, but so is a false accusation, which only serves to do ALL true rape victims a gross injustice, particularly in a high profile case like Kobe's.
Her accusation has stunk from the beginning and it just keeps getting smellier with every surfacing "fact."

I kinda feel it was mostly a call she made. I'm not too sure about that; Colorado may be a state where they don't need her to press the charges.
One thing I have thought was that the DA got into this case and filed the charges because the sheriff jumped the gun on arresting Bryant without consulting his office.
I do know that I heard that a lot of the attorneys that were in the courtroom were shocked that this is all his has; and evidently so was the judge, as written in his ruling sending Kobe to trial.

Man! She has really gone downhill ever since she was convicted of shoplifting in Beverly Hills. Winona Ryder was the one who was convicted of shoplifting. This Winona was drunk as a skunk. :)

Actually that is rather common. There is always a separation from the arresting agency and the prosecutorial agency.

I thought I read somewhere she didn't even realize she had been raped untill she spoke to Mommy. The boyfriend dimension adds just a little more to that. She started spinning a yarn, and just got carried away.

Pointing this out is not making a judgement about her character, but rather about the evidence that the D.A. has built his case around. Exactly!

Really? I don't know what you have heard, but from my understanding, rape is a traumatic experience. Many women cannot engage in sexual activity for many months after an instance of rape.
But, I guess you could be right. I guess she could have been brutally sodomized and later decided that having sex before heading to the hospital to have her examination to charge her attacker with rape was a good idea.
To: Howlin
I just can't believe a DA would even RISK bringing a case like this against a well known athlete unless he had it wrapped up tight. To be fair, this young DA never had a chance.
The Sheriff already went around him to bring charges without even consulting him. He had to establish just who was in charge. Had he decided not to procecute Kobe, he would have been run out of town on a rail. Even without bring the racial aspect into it, I get the impression that the people of that town do not like the aspect of a rich superstar athelete coming into their town and having his way with a member of their community, consentual or not.
I dont know if the DA had much of a choice not to prosecute, it may have come down to saving his own job. He chose wrongly, and if/when Kobe walks, he may as well pack his bags.
