A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecutions key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecutions star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.
Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.
But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.
For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

I don't think prior sexual relations for either the victim or the defendant is relevant myself.

The Kobe defenders are no different than the Jackson defenders. Come on. Look at the facts.
The first person to see after the alleged rape said that she looked fine. She had had sex with the first person she told she was raped. She had no injuries that could be spotted without a microscope. She wore underwear with the semen of two men to the rape exam. She has had multiple fake suicide attempts. Etc.
Here is a quote from the judge at the preliminary hearing.
"Almost all of the evidence introduced at the preliminary hearing permits multiple inferences which, when viewed either independently or collectively, and upon reasonable inference, do not support a finding of probable cause."
Wake up people!

Maybe the DA felt this was just one of those cases. I just can't believe a DA would even RISK bringing a case like this against a well known athlete unless he had it wrapped up tight.
So far, it looks like his two "best" witnesses are "iffy" at best, if not completely uncredible.
I completely understand that she most certainly could be promiscuous AND have been raped -- and there's no excuse for that.
But so far, what has been testified to is one of the weakest cases I've ever seen.

I think you know what I meant: that he may have seen her looking disheveled and she made this all up. No, I didn't know what you meant.
If you haven't truly already made up your mind, you should at least be open to that possibility.
I AM open to the possibility. What makes you think I'm not?!

"If it is his fresh semen in her panties on the day after the alleged rape, this case is over."
Why? He didn't rape her.
To: najida
WHY is this a crime where the victim has to prove innocence?Bass-ackward, dear. She, by way of the prosecutor, must PROVE Kobe GUILTY.

If she had sex after the alleged rape, would that be evidence that maybe he didn't rape her? Or would you put forward the case that she was raped and then had sex less than 24 hours later with another man?

"I just can't believe a DA would even RISK bringing a case like this against a well known athlete unless he had it wrapped up tight."
I disagree. I kinda feel it was mostly a call she made. That is the way it should be.

What am I missing? Nothing. Your hands are clean. You have neither attacked the victim nor shilled for the perp.

Knowing something about CO ski resort areas and their coddling of their guests, I can tell you that the last thing they want or need is to have this rape trial connected to their state.
About a year ago a British guest admitted recklessly skiing down the mountain at top speed. He crashed into a local and killed the man.
The judge decided that it was no biggee and sent the man on his way.....even tho there are clear guidelines for slope behaviour and this guest violated ALL the rules.

"They may choose not to call him to the stand. Now, is it HIS semen in her panties?"
Maybe she mistakenly put on her momma's panties that day. ;^)

A woman who has been raped less than 24 hours prior would not have consensual sex with another man. Or are you suggesting otherwise?
To: Howlin
The only thing testified to has been miniscule spots that were UNSEEN without a telescope; and I mean on her and on his shirt. And the record shows (I'm not claiming firsthand knowledge--just the record) that the blood on his shirt was "smears" and plainly visible to the naked eye. No, the officer who collected it did not see it when he took it as he said Bryant had the shirt tucked in and when he was given the shirt he put it in a bag and delivered it to evidence, then later observed the smears with his own eyes. I say bleeding that results in smears is more than normal bleeding.

Whatever...
I know of so many rapes personally that have never been reported (like 10 now).
Crap like this means, to me, a woman....that rape is pretty much a free for all and easy to get away with...
Just say we are all sluts.
I hate it the attitudes expressed, that is all.

You're right, but the key prosecution evidence is that she sustained injuries from Kobe that are only consistent with violent, non-consentual sex. If the defense can show that she had multiple sex partners shortly before her encounter with Kobe, there is no way they can prove that her injuries are the result of that encounter.
Pointing this out is not making a judgement about her character, but rather about the evidence that the D.A. has built his case around.
I really do not envy him right now--spending loads of taxpayer dollars on a case he has no chance of winning...
