The gays are marching in. The end is near. Sheer unadulterated evil and scary anal sex and superlative hair products and new blasts of fresh happy love are to be unleashed anew upon the country. Horror is nigh. Everyone into the bunker.

Religious people, in particular. Hyperzealous, evangelical, white, borderline fanatical religious people who apparently don't see a lot of sunlight and never read books and believe everything their homophobic intolerant Bible-spouting evangelical pastor and maybe Ann Coulter say, even more particularly.

More HATE sprewing from the homosexuals! But, alas, they can't commit hate speech - that is a label only reserved for the Christians.

Government that does not preserve society is not a governemt that will last.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: 'From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage'." - Alexander Fraser Tytler

There was a lecturer who tried to say that in thesalonic to an academic panel. The police had to escort him out. It is the line said by slavs and turks who wish to say there was/is no Greece. (kind of like those holocost denyers)

Texas may be different from NY but it is still one culture.

Government insures the survival of mores if it is doing it's job; because people of the society are the government. Compelling interests in society should be compelling interests of government.

The debate between the rational human beings and the bible-thumpers

I'm slow, what can I say.... Explain it to me like I'm a six year old.

No, you're a rational human being. You figure it out. I don't mind debating with people who disagree with me, but I do mind people who intentionally twist my words.

Shalom.

Legally speaking love has NOTHING to do with marriage. Homosexuals just don't get it. It is about reproduction, raising children, and all the issues attached to being a mother and a father.

Correct as usual, King Friday.

hmmmmm,.

What was it that Frankin said to the woman outside the pub:

"A PREPUBLIC Madam, if you can keep it...

Do you think we are ACTING like a REPUBLIC? This thread about what a bunch of yahoos in Mass has decided vis a vis gay marriage, or Roe V wade answers the question, I think.

...And I think that Tytler quote is pretty appros.

We let people who can't have children marry. We allow people who choose not to have children marry.

Those are the exceptions I was talking about.

Benjamin Franklin right? Al Frankin outside a pub taking to a woman seems unlikely.

I liked my idea better -- What's wrong with a man marrying his 12 year old daughter if his wife is cool with it, Or better still, his 12 year old son. Then you have Incest, Polygamy, Pederasty, *AND* Homosexuality.

This thread seems to answer you question vis a vis "codifing" mores.

As to pro-choice, our governemt was set up as a republic, and these should be questions each state should be able to answer, not the federal governement. Marrige is an institution, not a right. Roe V wade is bad law.

As a republic, folks who make up the state should be able to decide if abortion is something that voters decide, the definition of marriage is not. ALL states have to decide on this, (because married people can move to different states), which is why a marriage ammendment will probably be needed.

Choice is a different kettle of fish.

Their dog would be jealous. PETA would be mad.
