In the entire 232-year history of the United States Senate, only 11 Black Americans have served in that body. None of them have been women.
Kathy Barnette is a black Republican woman from Pennsylvania who is running for U.S. Senate, who made waves this week with a strong message for President Joe Biden.
“I’m Kathy Barnette, and I’m running to become the first Black Republican [w]oman elected to the US Senate,” she tweeted on Wednesday. “I’ll be the voice we need to defend our rights.” Then she added, “And by the way, Joe, just because I believe in competent leadership doesn’t mean ‘I ain’t Black!'”

I think that’s terrific! Black voters need more to look up than sports idiots. But I’m always taken aback by this “1st black” thing. I just don’t see the necessity on such a consistent basis.
Can’t be much of a “political insider,” as there was a black female Senator before—— Carol Moseley Braun.
Too bad the Dems are going to cheat to make sure she doesn’t win.
I am hoping we’ll see that black candidate in Baltimore run again. She was rather impressive in her run, even though she didn’t win.

Not accurate. There have been black women senators (Moseley Braun, Harris) just no black women Republican senators. (ok, we could argue whether Harris is actually black).

That is not at all accurate.
That is poor journalism or a lie.
I saw her on Newsmax the other day. Shown that clip, she said Biden was “grinning like an imbecile.”
That’s when I fell in love
Black politicians on the right, don’t seem to have the filter that white politicians do, they can say the things that white politicians can’t.
I wish her luck. She’s going to need it.
Harris is not black. She’s Jamaican ands Indian. As in India.
I really like her. She ran against that insipid harpy, Madeline Dean for Congress last year and lost. I am glad she is staying in the game. But if Sean Parnell throws his hat in the PA. Senate race; he will get my vote. We need Toomey’s seat...and that nitwit Fetteramn is raking in big dark money (3.9 million so far) We need someone that can go towto tow with the overgrown Ferengi Fetterman.
