President Donald Trump will not consider the House-passed universal background checks bill as part of his proposed gun package, according to a source familiar with the conversation on guns.
Trumps position on the House-passed bill is not exactly a surprise. The White House issued a veto threat against the bill in February.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) have called on Trump repeatedly to bring up the House-passed universal background checks bill. Over the weekend, Pelosi and Schumer issued a statement following a phone call with Trump that anything other than the House-passed bill will not get the job done.
Schumer reiterated his calls Monday for the White House to back the House proposal.

Don’t blame him.
These two communist scum wouldn’t give an inch on border wall funding.
POTUS shouldn’t give an inch on the communist plot to disarm Americans.
You mean POTUS is going to follow the Constitution?
Well no kidding
Winning. Now promote Reciprocal Carry and Voter ID.
sounds good!
now to repeal ALL of the d*** firearms infringements (laws, regs, enforcements, etc.) all of it. Restore some respect for our government and legal system...
and maybe
use that money for some mental health clinics ?
‘)maybe help people set up drop-in places (’sanctuaries?’) where folks could go to unwind or someone to talk with...
or?
But I chuckle....Pelosi and Schumer said....not $1 for a wall. I think he got $1.4 Bil after that little speech.
And he's added to that.
Kinda like the turtle and the hare fable.
ImVho, “Nanny” Pelosi & “Suckie Chuckie” Schumer are NOT communists; instead they are just HATERS, BIGOTS, MONEY-hungry & POWER-hungry CREEPS, who deserve nothing quite so much as a KITA.

Don’t most Congressional ‘Rats need background checks?
Good. Excellent.
Presuming that President Trump wants to win another term, he will NOT cooperate with the DIMocRATS on any NATURAL RIGHT and/or on illegal immigration.

What’s the bill number? The folks who write these articles never mention the bill number.
Remove any mention of Red Flag laws and I’ll breath easier.
Good news if true.
That’s nice.
So, Mr. Trump: What “gun control” laws do you propose to REPEAL?
There is no such thing as a comprehensive “universal” background check. On Americans. There is basically none on illegals. As far as on Americans a substantial number of records from various entities never get upstream in to the national system. A system that’s a technical joke.
On top of that there is a major flaw, juvenile records.
That’s good news so far. I’ve been doing some looking at judicial and legislative discussions and omissions behind the scenes about red flag laws, though. It looks like they may be putting a federal law together for propagating red flag laws to the remaining states that don’t already have them, most likely with grants and pressure (carrot and beating stick).
So far, my legislators have replied that they won’t pass universal background checks, but they’re not saying anything one way or the other about the looming federal push for red flag laws.
I did the following. It was easy.

The message body already has a nicely written statement against universal background checks and against any assault weapons ban in it, but you’ll need to add a polite, short, concise argument against any federal effort to propagate red flag laws to the states.
The NRA does *not* want red flag laws and has published articles opposing them. But there are quite a few women’s lobbies of various kinds (even some of them quasi-conservative swing vote lobbies) pushing for red flag laws along with medical lobbies and more.
One reason is that there are similarities between red flag laws and orders of protection in domestic disputes. Remember the elements of the VAWA and the Lautenberg Amendment against our Second Amendment (restraining orders, misdemeanor domestic violence, misogamy, obsession with control, etc.).
Its time for GOPe Senators to hide again.
