The GOP senator told Sean Hannity that the president should basically appeal any Senate no vote to the American people.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) released a statement on Tuesday calling on President Donald Trump to renominate alleged sexual abuser Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court should his current nomination fail.
Graham opened by sharing his admiration and empathy for Kavanaugh and his family, imploring other senators to not quit on him, before diving into the senators suggestion to the president.
I believe Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed to the Supreme Court very soon, Graham said. However, if his nomination were to fall short, I would encourage President Trump to re-nominate Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. It would ― in effect ― be appealing the Senates verdict directly to the American people.
Graham also noted that the midterm elections are only 35 days away and a new group of senators might view Kavanaughs nomination very differently after hearing from the voters in their states.
The written statement from Graham followed his rhetoric Monday night on Fox News Hannity.
Heres what I would tell the president: I would appeal the verdict of the Senate to the ballot box, the senator said on Hannity.
This good man should not be destroyed. If you legitimize this process by one vote short, well be on to the next person. Id hate to be the next person nominated. I would feel horrible that we destroyed Kavanaugh....

I agree. Don’t let the ‘rat turds get away with it!
I concur. Hopefully we will have a few more Conservatives in the Senate and Flake will be gone.
I think its a wonderful idea
Who the heck put Viagra in Graham’s Wheaties?
Maybe he sees an opportunity for 2020?
I am not complaining, mind you.
But this starch is new!
Ditto.
I agree. But that is contingent on the GOP keeping the Senate and getting more seats.
I don’t know if Collins or Murkowski are still going to be in the next Senate, but Flake is sure to be gone, so hopefully, we have one more vote pickup there.
This could very well happen. Lindsey Graham surprising everyone, Jeff Flake surprising nobody.
That would depend on Kavanaugh’s willingness....
Good idea, providing BK is willing to go though another ordeal.
Agree 100%!
If you legitimize this process by one vote short,
Hmm sounds like he knows something.
Kavanaugh is the most qualified person to sit on the SCOTUS
That would be a major double-down, Trump style.
The president should do it - just to set the left into yet another frenzy. It may be the one to make them go stark raving mad and be committed.
Damn Right!
Sure does. I’ve felt this way all along the fix was in with the RINOs. The extra week was for more slime to give them cover. Huge mistake by GOP Senate to allow it should have forced vote win or lose.
Ever since McCain croaked,Linda has gone back to the way he was during Clinton’s impeachment....I’m thinking McCain had something serious on Graham to keep him in line.....
Get your enemies to destroy themselves by hating you. Roy Cohn
I STRONGLY agree with this. And, by the way, just the threat of doing this will surely terrorize red state RATS consideringvoting against Kavanaugh.
It would be a great time to flood the zone with so many ridiculous accusations that it’s obvious what’s going on.
“Brett Kavanaugh said to have punched babies in high school.”
“I was kidnapped by Kavanaugh and kept in a secret, sound proof room in his house for 2 years until Nancy Pelosi heard me screaming and let me out.”
“Female teacher of Brett’s says she felt very uncomfortable when he was in class, as he stripped naked and laid across his desk every day.”
Honestly, the left needs to ridiculed, long and loud. They need to be made to feel like a joke. We’re finally making fun of Trudeau up here.
