Picking their running mates: Why Sanders and Cruz are the best VP picks

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have yet to shore up their bases.

Mrs. Clinton is looking to heal the primary wounds of rival Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders‘ and his progressive supporters, who have threatened to stay home in November. Donald Trump has had a tough time attracting the support of establishment conservatives who worry he’s too centrist.

And each needs their bases to coalesce in order to win the presidency.

An analysis completed by The Wall Street Journal suggested since 1992, every candidate who ended up winning the White House had a favorable rating of at least 80 points among their own party. According to the latest WSJ/NBC News poll, Mr. Trump was dead even in his positives and negatives among Republicans and Mrs. Clinton was up among Democrats by 43 percentage points. Meaning, they both have a long way to go before they reach that 80 point threshold, if at all.

But there is something that could help them get there. Their vice presidential pick....

Want me to go rooting around for things you said six years ago? I didn’t think so.

Go ahead, I didn’t say anything I’m ashamed of six years ago or 11 years ago...

But remember if it was good enough for Barky then, it’s good enough for Cruz now...you said it, I didn’t!!!

I doubt Cruz would do it. And I doubt Hillary would pick Sanders.

If Cruz is anywhere near the ticket, I will vote for pot smoking Gary Johnson.

Has Cruz honored his written pledge by endorsing Trump?

We conservatives are So screwed since many have political moral bearing memory loss.

Ted is more establishment than not.
Ted is for secret screw-the-USA TPP.
Ted is for expanded H1-B visas so that hundreds of thousands of additional American IT engineers, programers and technicians will lose their jobs, replaced by foreign nationals.
Ted is not strong on locking down the border and limiting immigration.
Ted’s wife is part of the hive (Goldman Sachs) that screwed us in the crash of 2008.
He’s a creepy mofo (see Stepford family behavior around him).
His father’s divine proclamation of Ted’s presidential destiny are poisonous).
Most importantly, Ted’s craven primary theft denying the will of Republican primary voters, was Disgusting.
Terrible character.

RE: “I think Cruz is a good Senator if you take away his 10 hiatus he took for his presidential campaign. Trump still has him on his list, and tells his supporters to not call him “lyin Ted” anymore.”

Trump would be crazy to pick Cruz. He won’t even endorse him. The Cruz people need to face reality. You can’t have a man on the ticket who claims that the nominee is a racist.

That’s my pick too. I think it’s Trump’s pick too. He doesn’t want to give it away till the convention.
If it isn’t Sessions, it will be Christie, but I’m hoping it’s Sessions.

If Cruz can come out strong for Trump before being tapped as a potential, he might deserve the shot. Else, he needs to just fade away from presidential aspirations.

I think Don Trump admires the fact that Cruz hasn’t bowed down to him like Christie did.

Perhaps, but it would be tough to choose a guy who won't endorse you as a running mate - foolish too.
